Began grinding away on my floor pan the other day. Intention is to prep floor, ceiling, c-pillars and package tray area before epoxy priming. Been running into some rubbery stuff on the floor, at the rear of the driveshaft tunnel and figured it might be some kind of panel bonding adhesive or similar.

Is there supposed to be a lot of sealing stuff on the floor of a '68 b-body, and where should I expect it? Figured I might have to reseal what I grind off...

It kind of crumbles, and wire brush sinks into it and slides off it as if it was rubber.

its called seam sealer
and it is used on where most of the pans mate up to each other.
to do a good job you need to scrape/wirewheel it all away
as rust will hide underneath it.
paint stripper will also help break it down.

That's what I figured.... thanks, guys!

There's Seam Sealer, which is fairly obvious, but, there's a residue that's not Seam Sealer which seems to only be on MOPAR floor pans, which, is a crusty residue. I see this stuff all the time as I Media Blast these and other cars.
