I use to run at the ol' Firebird International Raceway in Chandler,
before it closed down & became the Wild Horse Pass,
now owned by some Indian reservation/group & casino IIRC
Use to run there in late Jan.-Feb. always nice, mid-hi 80's
well prepped track, knowledgeable tech guys...
Ran Super Chevy Sundays events
Door-slammer stuff & NHRA Warm Up/testing
I'd hate to run there in the heat...
Went 8.98 @ 156, with a 468ci single 4bbl
on real treaded DOT M/T 31x 18 street-tires
for an event back in the early 90's, won my class...
Ran the same car in Pro-Gas same vent,
went 8.50's @ 170-ish with slicks...
Had to slow it down even for Pro-Gas,
It'd run mid to hi 7's easily it was a while still before
Super Eliminator class 7.90 ET was formed...
Nice track surface back then, long shutdown area IIRC
clean pits etc., albeit it has been a while...
It closed June 2013 IIRC,
just recently reopened under new ownership...
Air there always sucks, especially when the heat goes up,
it is at slight altitude too like 2000' before any corrections,
nice track when it's night too, or use to be anyway...
I think they shut us down at like 10:00pm IIRC
