Replacing the pistons, does it matter which way you press them off the connecting rods? meaning, are the pins or con rod holes tapered?

Straight pin...no taper. Make sure things are clean. Are you pressing them off cold? If I'm going to bush the rod, I'll do them cold but if not, I like to heat up the rod a bit.
 
I was going to, do you suggest heating them ? if so how? I have had them in the garage over night thinking that might shrink the pins and make it easier to press off.

When everything is cold, it all shrinks but it's not much. I used a small tip torch. Some go to cherry red but all I do is put some heat into the end. Be prepared for things to not want to move at first and then it'll POP and then move. You have a press I assume?
