My 73 RR rear springs are soft and I want to replace them, but shipping such items is hugely expensive to UK.
I have been offered a new set of A body Super Stock springs from a buddy, Will they fit?

Probably cheaper to get them re-arched and possibly have the shop add a leaf or two

you can add a couple leaves from the A-body pack as long as you can get a new center bolt. It is pretty easy and can make a dramatic difference. I did this to a trailer I built, added a couple of leaves from a jeep and magically was able to load it with twice the crap.

Basically you just pull of any clips, pull the centering pin out and the whole pack comes apart. Add a leaf or two from the other pack in a desired spot (usually add the leaf from the other pack just below the leaf with the eyes in it) and then re-assemble adding a new wear pad on the ends. put them in and see what you think. You will have to do it twice if you want more or less after the first try.... I am going to combine two sets of leaves for my Coronet here soon.

the a body ss springs will fit with the 2 inch longer forward spring hangers, but will most likely be just as soft as what your taking out.do you have the part #'s of those ss springs?i can tell you wich ones they are if you do.

Also, 73 Roadrunner are single year springs, different than even those on 74. I got a set from ESPO Springs and Things, and they do the final arc on them so you have a matched pair. You might give them a call if you have not already

Actually, ALL Super Stock springs are A body length. What you need to find out is the spring part number. Even if they are the 2800 pound springs, they will set your car up in the rear as compared to stock B body springs. SS springs are pretty stout. They will fit, but, as mentioned, you'll need the correct longer front brackets (Mancini has them) plus, you'll also need to convert from the ISO rear suspension to the conventional rear suspension. Not a big deal, but will add to the expense. I think if it was my car, I would simply replace them with some XHD springs correct for your year model and call it a day.

Thanks for the info, I had a suspicion that 73/74 were different. Sorry but what is ISO suspension;is it a staggered set up?
