Progress report, Junkyard Dog

You're doing the right thing by test fitting all the other parts. I'd even set the rear window trim up to see how it fits.

I did and that is when the problem with the C-pillar really became evident.
Thanks for the comments and encouragement guys.

It's not all bodywork. Started on these yesterday. Would never have imagined that there would be 2 sets of needle bearings in the clutch pedal, nice!
Will just do before and after on these.

And those bearings are easily available through a bearing supply company like Motion Industries or Alpine Bearing. Yours look a lot better than mine did so a little grease and good to go!

Holy hell Matt! U and Will give meaning to the phrase "Jack of all trades." Helluva' nice job! I will have alot of catching up 2 do this summer!

All right, time to MAKE these quarters fit! After several hours of making sure that I had not done something wrong up to this point I am finally convinced all of my problems fitting these quarters are in the quarters themselves. I used a tram gauge and verified that the car is square from front to backon the chassis and top to bottom on the inside. I have been having several areas that aren't fitting properly, I'll get the wheelhouse lined up and the gap at the back of the door is nice on top and down to less then nothing at the bottom, so I rework it and get the gap at the back of the door looking good and the wheelouse becomes hopelessly out of whack. I figured that it was going to be easier to deal with this issue where the quarter meets the door instead of messing with the wheel opening and had a couple of people at B & B coaching me on this one. Allthough I've done everything up to this point on the "DOG" myself, I am still very much an ameture and needed some advice on the best ways to make these complex panels fit. I ended up applying masking tape to the quarter as a guide to where I needed to remove material to open the gap at the bottom. Got out the cutting tools and removed a long wedge shaped piece of the quarter, closed up the gap and fired up the welder. It went well and I am very happy with the results.:usa2:

Nice work on the qrt,its hard to work on a car that has a 1/2 production tolerances :icon_lol: My question though is who are those panels from and are they full qrts or partial panels?Just interested in difference between companies.

All you guys that do this stuff are amazing. Hell, I'm pulling my hair out just messin with my dash trying to get it lookin and fitting right. Great great work.

Thanks for the comments guys. More of the same this morning, the next thing on the list of fitment issues was the passenger side C-pillar where I had a dogleg shape next to the rear window. It is hard to see in the pics but really stuck out when I held the rear window trim in place. I used the same process here that I did to straighten out the area by the door jamb and was once again pleased with the results. Next chance I get to work on the "DOG" I will be starting to weld the quarters in place, starting at the front and working my way back.

Looking good Matt. Panels look good. I used AMD for mine and after the paint was on I was suprised how well it looked. You always have your fingers crossed hoping for the best. The icing on the cake was after taking it to a couple local shows, even the saltiest of mopar club critics gave it the thumbs up. Keep pluggin away, looks great.

Good Lord! I'm just now reading this thread. I've seen some restorations in my day but THIS! This has got to be the most extensive EVER! You are fearless...they should name a tool after you or something! Obviously the words "beyond repair" are not in your vocabulary. Incredible, impressive.

You trying to say that I am some kind of tool?:tongue8:

Thanks for the compliments anyway.

I'm not going to comment on the "tool". I'm not going to comment on the "tool".
