I have installed the sniper system with the sniper coil and ignition box but I’m not sure what I do with the old coil positive and negative wire now that it’s not in use. Does the positive and negative still have to be hooked up for my dash?

Stock wires stay with the basic Sniper system. Unless you are running a ignition system like MSD. What is this ignition box you are saying you are using?

It’s part of the Hyperspark system it controls the timing I believe. I’m new to all this.it’s called the Hyperspark CD ignition box

I had the sniper system working without the sniper coil and ignition box but then I yanked my motor and bored it .30 over and made it a roller motor with a new cam so I decided to get the Hyperspark ignition box and coil but the coil had a positive and negative that goes straight to the battery. And I believe I still need my old coil wire hooked up for my dash gauges

If in fact you have the CD box did you read the instructions?

I have the cd box all wired up but I am left with the old coil wires that come from my dash guages and I thought they had to be hooked up.

The instructions clearly say no. What distributor are you running?

Hyperspark, do you have a 66 or 67 charger? Or understand how the Luminescent dash works

Just asking because it’s not like any other guages

It should be no different than any other system. The tachometer will be driven off the Sniper Efi driver. Your tachometer may or may not work. Lots of older tachometers may require a driver for the tachometer.

I would be more concerned about getting it running and tuned with the system you have. Then deal with the possibility of the tachometer working or not.

The cars cluster has nothing to do with the system you are installing.

I understand that and I had it running with the sniper system before I did the motor work I just didn’t have the Hyperspark ignition and coil. This is why I posted under the 66-67 Charger forum so someone with one and that has installed the whole sniper system could answer my question.

If you have a factory tach you will more than likely need to use an MSD Tach adapter to get it to work properly. The Hyper Spark Coil and Distributor hook up to the Hyper Spark Box independent of the original wiring. See the image below. You need 4 wires to hook up the entire system. Fuel pump wire to new Fuel pump. 12v switched, battery pos and battery neg. Everything else just plugs in. You can tape off your original coil wires they are not needed for the Hyper Spark to work. Keep them functional and throw your old distributor in the trunk as a back up plan..... Ya know just in case.

I have answered your questions. There are variants on how you have it set up for timing control. The factory tach and gauges have nothing to do with the efi system. As said your only concern is the tach which is driven off the EFI module not the coil.

Yes I have it hooked up completely but it does not use my original coil wires from my wiring harness. So I was just wondering what had to be done with the original coil wire if anything l.

No my only question was what do I do with the original coil wires that come out of my harness

Like I said get the car up and running without the factory tachometer. Then figure out what the tach needs. It will be drien off the efi module. You will most likely need a driver/tach adapter for it to work. There is a guy here that works on these dashes and he might be able to tell you if the tach will work or not and if not what you might be able to do to make it work. Big thing is do not add anything into the efi system as it can bugger things up. You want it up and running on the new ignition/efi system first.
