I'm currently running stock leafs with 29" rubber and I plan on stepping up to 30" MT DR's

To adjust pinion angle, I used 6* shims, but with a full tank, passengers and a trunk full of junk, the rear tends to sag.

I'd like to raise the rear about 1"

If I were to get lower front mounts to raise the rear height, would I be able to ditch the angle shims altogether?

It may be difficult to get an inch from just the spring hangers. The stock type put my bottom/main spring almost even with the frame rail. The aftermarket & SS spring hangers look about 1/2" to 1" lower than stock. Since the axle sits just forward of center of the spring pack, you only get about 60% of the lift/lower of the spring eye. A 1" difference in spring eye will only give you about 5/8" gain/loss.
This difference is so slight, I doubt that there is that much of a difference in pinion angle.
In a way this is related....recently I decided to raise my Charger up a little. I had some no name SS spring hangers but I had drilled holes in them up high to put the spring eye up as close to the body as I could without cutting. I installed these in 2006 or so and had no idea of pinion angles, vibration or anything like it. In 2011 I installed a Gear Vendors unit and had to shorten the driveshaft. Since then I've had a vibration that had been hard to pinpoint. I pulled the SS hangers and went back with my stock ones. The difference in the spring eye mounting was 1 7/8". In the end, I gained a full inch of height. The vibration is waaaay down. I think I may be able to reduce it even more with those shims you mention.

So you haven't tried adjusting your pinion angle yet?

Also, could you give me details on your GVOD?

I've been thinking about getting one of those bad boys :)
