I have purchased (2) 275/60/15 tires to put on my 67. I have 1 (15”x8”)black steel wheel with 4-1/2” backspacing & 1 (15”x8”)with 4-1/4” backspace. Put them on & after lowering from lift, it looks like I need 4-3/4” backspacing on both. They almost rub the quarter panel, but, look to have almost 1” going toward leaf springs.Have any of you guys “cut the welds & re-welded” in order to achieve more back spacing? Currently, I have 255/60/15 Magnum 500 wheels with 4-1/2” BS and they fit fine, but, I want more (width) tire in the back w/o tubbing it. Suggestions?

There are aftermarket "custom offset" factory looking wheels. I can't remember where I got mine, but I've got 8" wide steel rims and take factory hubcaps

It rubbed where the quarter panel is concave. Rubbed 2" above wheel well lip to about 3" above lip.

I have already problems with 255/60 on 15x8 4.5BS
They rubbed on both wheels
Right and left Side inside quarter Panel and left also on the lip. I think I need to Go with 235 on my new wheels or go Back to steelies 15x7 4.25bs where 255 fits Well

The 8" wheel lets the sidewall move out. You think 5" BS would work and not to close to spring?

Has anyone on this site put 275/60/15 (or wider) tires on 15" x 8" wheels on the back of a 67 Belvedere II?
I put 275/60/15's on 8" steel wheels, then took them off because I couldn't find a reasonable way to keep them from rubbing. Swapped the same tires to 7" wheels and picked up about 1/2" clearance both sides. Now I'm trying to figure out if I can still use the 8" wheels on the front with 225/70/15's.
Here's something I copied from another thread, seems about right-
"Front 15x7 4.25 bs with 225/70/15 and rear 15x8 4.5 bs 275/60/15 is a popular combo on these B bodies and will fit/not rub.
If you go 10" wide on the rear, bs needs to be measured carefully, it will be around 5.25."
