Red and yellow dot on tires...

Is that they type that spins them on the car? We had a machine with two big electric motors that spun them on the car(Front) and it would do a great job, it spun them at well over a hundred miles an hour.
I spun balanced many a tire on an old Hunter on the car spin balancer in the 1960s and 70s. Worked great on steel rims only. Would not fit most aluminum wheels at the time. Had to take a pry bar and pry on brake calipers to get the drag off before using the balancer. Drum brakes it worked fine. You just balanced the rear tires/wheels on the front first. Use to take a clean grease rag and lay on top of the fender and watch until you had no vibration in the rag.

Ahhhhhh, the good ole days....................

Yes Sir.....if the wheels were way out of balance the whole front of the car(s) would shake...But, when done they were smooth as silk going down the road.

Your buying tires. What the heck are the brake drums being removed for?

on the car balance also balances the drums

next time you do rear brakes the drum could be put back on out of balance if not marked

in fact, the wheel should be put back on with the studs through the same holes they came out of to keep 100% balance

During a tire change what are the brake drums coming off for? Can not believe the idoits that tare stuff up at those places.

What YY1 is saying is that you mark the drum and stud for the future brake shoe change so that the drum goes back in the previously balanced position.
