Charging seems to be okay, but when running there is a “red low” behind VR.
I don’t run it long, and red glow is almost instant.
I don’t remember a led there.

The electronic instrument cluster VR's have a flashing LED on then... maybe the alternator VR's do as well?

If it's the alternator's voltage regulator, and if it's the mechanical voltage regulator as used on single field round back alternator, it's the single resistor under the regulator. The resistor runs hot and could glow a dull red under certain circumstances. IMO...normal ......

Found that the resistors on back side of VR were grounding our on a bolt head. Isolated it, and charging stopped. Ran new wires to give casing ground. Ran new FLD wire to alternator. Still no charging. Oh well, it was a trial and error thing.

Car is scheduled to get rewired.
