Rocker Trim Clips?

The last body shop siliconed the rocker trim that runs from wheel to wheel below the door. I removed one that is coming apart and found little nipples that looks like they are for clips. Where do I find these clips? Anyone have a picture of what they are suppose to look like? I can match them up. Thanks.

Yes, the little nipples hold on the trim clips. Check RT Speciatlies

The Mopar PN in 75 & 76 is listed as 6003194, the 3 spares I have stashed have PN 6003565 molded in to them. It might be worth a laugh to run those numbers past the parts counter at the local stealership just to find a later supersede.

One possible after market replacement, PN CP774457 is on pg F-053 of this catalog:

note that the publish date is 1999.

The biggest supplier for this kinda stuff in the 70s was a company call Auveco but their on line catalogs don't go back that far. I think the path of least resistance is going to be a generic spring clip (Dorman):

If ya click the Dodge / Chrysler link on that page, you can see that this place caries clips using the DPI part number format, but not this clip.

Speaking of Dorman, their most current on line body parts catalog is dated 2006 and shows something that looks damn close. The PN is long since disco'd so pretty much a dead end too.

No way to say what it originally replaced - could be the wider lower moldings on 78/79 or lower side moldings on pick ups with the SE trim package. That's the major problem with replacing these clips - they were produced in 100,000 variations.

Be aware that the plyabilty of the clip material is important. The replacements I got years ago from YO are too soft and allow the trim to pull away from the body. Just fyi. Has bothered me since 1988. Different application, but similar.

I haven't installed them yet but should be soon. Body work almost done. I'll keep you informed if they work or if I need to get them modified.
 
Sad to hear they didn't work. This thread seems to have established that these clips simply do not exist. The only option I can think of is 3M double sided tape...they use that stuff on modern cars to glue body panels together...I used it to add ground effects to my '13 charger...pretty good stuff....maybe it will work just as well with these parts?

That's the route that I might go for installing my rocker trim. Oh I have the clips but I just can't bring myself to drilling holes in my mint rockers. And I haven't really decided if I'm going to put them on. I will "stick" them on to see what they look like. And decide from there.

You shouldn't have to drill any holes in your rockers...if your vehicle came from the factory with the trim, the rockers will have small "teets" that the clips latch on to. No holes or drilling. Check out the pics at the start of this thread

Sure....that's how most emblems and trim are installed on today's cars. Especially aftermarket trim pieces like ground effects, spoilers, scoops, etc. are often all use 3M's double sided trim tape...there's usually some "activator" solution that you use along with it...but its very strong once you put it on and it cures.
 
No mine didn't come with the trim but I kind of like the look of them. I took the gamble a bought a set just to see if it would look right. The original owner had two pieces of aluminium on each side with pinstriping on it. Attached with 3-M tape. Caught my eye.
 
Those clips look just like the ones used on 5th Aves. Unsure if the length is the same. Just a potential source if those are still available/ if you find one in a salvage yard.
