Saturday Night Special (66 Belvedere Base)

Let it bake in the sun for a month or so, out during the day and in at night, helps the cure to better enable the cut/buff.

No progress… but got a wash today and did some running around.

Did a bit more work under the car recently, and still gathering parts to repair the bits in the interior. I’m really dreading the headliner ($250 headliner, and two $250 glass gaskets and however much dynamat I use on the roof…)
Mostly just driving and enjoying while I save my Pennies for a real exhaust.

Tore out the whole interior and deep cleaned everything, what started as a vacuum ended with washing the carpets and stripping and repainting the floor. You know, for peace of mind…

Took me a Sunday and a half, but completely built the exhaust from the manifolds back. I’ve built a dozen motorcycle exhausts, so I thought “how hard could it be?!” (Famous last words).

Still chasing a slight squeak in the front end that’s driving me nuts, but she’s sittin pretty.

Next week I start chasing all the little electrical gremlins. Door jam switch, reverse lights, fuel gauge drama, etc.
Hooray.

The beauty of the 66/67 roof to quarter trim.

Nice work.

I’m still looking for the correct sunvisors and rear view mirror if anyone knows!
I bought a couple at Carlisle this year “from a 1966 Belvedere” that don’t fit.

I have seen two different style visors on 66/67 cars.

"Puffy" and "non-puffy".

Not sure if an option or a plant thing, or even a mid-year thing.

Most have been non-puffy, though.

I meant I have 3 different mirrors that don’t fit; I should’ve clarified. I figure sunvisors will be easy after the mirror is sorted!

out running errands tonight and as I was getting back to the car, I snapped a pic. and I found a car online that's about what I want mine to look like when it grows up

nothin new, but driving this thing. one of the most reliable rides ive owned- hands down. I did build some 2" shackles for the rear- bringing the back up about an inch. loving it.

alright. I got the front suspension put back together and all the brakes finished... I was going to rush and didn't bench bleed the master cylinder which was real dumb. Every time I want to do something fast, I have to do it again. Because I'm an idiot.
Got it registered and running down the road. The brakes are night and day with all new everything!
Going to have my racecar buddy help me do a real alignment, then it's onto the 59 other projects. Labor of love, right?
I had to take photos for my insurance lady- so I figured id share. everybody likes photos!

What's everyone's choice for sway bars? This is an LIGHT option base car with no bars.

Did you change the shoes around?

Thought about painting my 66 Black but these days I would just like to get it driving again. Anyways, I lowered it and the handling improved a bunch! Didn't slam it but just lowered it about 1 1/2".
