That almost sounds like something got tight all of a sudden.
You could pull all of the plugs and turn it over by hand.(front crankshaft bolt and a socket) Feel how much resistance you have. Look for a wet plug or plugs when you remove them. (hydro lock)

Is it a automatic?

pulled plugs all cylinders were dry does turn over easier with out plugs both by hand and with starter and yes its an automatic

bad battery, replace, check alt make sure its charging if not replace.

Ok, was wondering if you had a torque converter, install problem.

I'm wondering if your timing changed somehow. Adjustable timing gear slipped, distributor moved, cam key...

Don't want to over think it. Think simple things first.

Bring up tdc and compare dizzy button. Valves closed on #1 ect...

Good strong Batt. Swap starter if you have a spare.

I did pull the trans and had that rebuilt as well so the converter was out

Well you said it turns ok by hand so you should be good on having the tq sprags engaged in the front pump. And you already had it running so you should be good there.

Double check your timing first...

Are you running a boat anchor starter or a mini? I agree with above, you've had it running, check for a loose wire in starting circuit?

Bad starter relay was the problem wasn't getting enough volts to the s terminal thanks every one for your help nd suggestions
