I saw a great deal RT Superbee/Ramcharger hood and scoops on ebay for < $1000. I bid on this item and eventually got sniped in the last few seconds. The person who won the item has now re listed it for 4x the amount $3000.

I'm just irked. I understand this is America and part of what makes it great is that folks are "allowed" to make money and do things like that. But, what pisses me off as a mopar enthusiast is that someone prevented that hood from going directly to a car (and really prevented that hood from going on a lot of cars due to the asking price). It's things like that that make this hobby what it is today. Hugely inflated. Always loved mopars, will always own them. Always want their value to appreciate.

Guess you gotta roll with the punches, I just needed to vent before kicking in a wall. Thanks for listening.

As bad as you feel about it, wait till the person that sold it to him sees his listing. They'll really be pissed.

That's why companies like amd and such need to keep up with there efforts and bring this stuff back that we desire and keep this hobby going for our kids to love like we do.

In this instance, I am "the kid."

Even at 1000, the price to me is inflated. For 3000, they'll can keep it.

If the hood sold to this guy for under a thousand, chances are that's the price people will pay. For $3k it will sit there until somebody with more money than brains comes along and has to have it for whatever reason. To your point it will sit there instead of being used by a real mopar guy.

Ebay is full of that. There are some 62-65 cars that I've seen relisted for six months with too high of prices on them. I guess those sellers can afford to wait for that mix of money and brains that I mentioned above. It's like viagra spam, I don't understand how they make money like this, but it must work.

Here's how viagra spam adds make someone money. Same clever fellow writes software that creates and mass distributes these annoying messages. Same clever fellow invents a program that can "block" these annoying messages. Then said clever fellow charges folks for a tool that will block annoying messages. Clever fellow makes money.

Wow!! that was clever!!! :rolling:

The problem is people get greedy. Gone are the days when they want to not only get a fair price and help out someone who is having a hard time locating parts for thier project so they can also enjoy the fruits of thier labor. Sorry, just my 2 cents. It still suck though as I have been burned a few times also.

Tell me, I been looking for a Power Bulge hood for my 68, and they are either rusted out, or want an arm for the thing. Usually it both.

Not totally gone. There are quite a few people left who really care about the hobby. Personally, I feel Ebay has ruined almost any hobby that requires collecting anything and is a simple way to fence stolen parts with no real risk. I always try and deal face-to-face, I am willing to drive to the persons house, look them in the eye and figure out if they are a thief or just trying to make a quick buck. I use Craigslist and those trader magazines and forums. I feel Ebay is too easy to get stolen goods from, so like any good shopper, I won't use their service. Though the one-on-one process, i have met some really good people who care about the hobby and what i am doing. They help me find parts, give me a fair price because they know I am not just going to flip it for cash. They know it will go on a car and be used.

These forums help hobbists come together, but try and go meet some people in the end it will help shift the tide away from "quick-buck" Ebay and back to the hands of enthusiasts.

This is the reason why forums and groups like this are so important, like-minded people who, if they band together and are mutually supportive, keep the hobby going. The goal being to have everyone here consider eachother as mates, and you don't screw over your mates.

Sure you may deny yourself of some extra cash by selling something at a reduced price to a mate but that is one person who won't forget your generosity, and others too will soon see you are a great bloke, interested in the hobby and not out for himself. People that would take advantage of that will get found out pretty fast and they'll be moved on but those that remain will have established a brotherhood that will outlive all the crooks and shisters.

It may take a long time for what go's around to come back around, but it will and to be honest, I'd much rather see something go to a genuine battler struggling to find parts to restore his pride and joy for $50 than to sell it to a wheeler dealer for $300! The smile on his face is worth far more than a few hundred bucks.

That's just my 5 cents though.

This past weekend I just picked up a clean (slight surface rust) bare metal power bulge hood for $575.00 at carlisle. Another guy wanted $675.00 for one caked with bondo and painted white enamel. I was at Mopar City in Illinios in May and they wanted $650.00 for a rusted out one. Guy pulls it out and says, "it needs a little work". I laughed all the way home... hang in there, you'll find one. I did. And I live in the Northeast rust captial of the US!
