Stellantis

Probably not enough profit margin for them in the Dakota. It seems like they can sell every full size Ram pickup they can crank out; and those have good profit margins I was told.
along them lines
make it a Ram/Dakota
2wd performance versions (like the old R/T)
& especially 4x4, fits a great niche/demographic
they have 2 platforms, Jeep & Durango they can use already
then sell even more Ram badged/labeled trucks/pick-ups
mid-size trucks/pick-ups
especially with pending CCP Joes "much higher fuel cost"
& going up daily
IMO it seems like it would/will be logical
"make a good market share/make good market sense"

just my thoughts

I don't see it as they can't make enough of them
&/or make enough profit,
they advertise the **** out the Ram
they never did that with the Dakota,
a few billboards & a couple of commercials,
but never really promoted the
mid-size aspect, very lil' I remember anyway

Seems like many people like to store their cars/trucks in the garage
a full-size truck, even the shorter/short bed
maybe a club cab/extra-cab
(that's even if they actually made them still)
& especially the 4 doors/crew cab versions won't fit
(garages in newer tract homes suburbs/even cities especially are small/er)
the bigger versions won't fit in a smaller 20' x 20' garage
or an older house with a single-car small garage either

not everyone needs/wants a full-size PU/truck
especially for daily driving/primary driver
not everyone needs it either
for a tow rig or either for a work truck

the Dakota can do much of that aspect too
very capable mid-sized pick-ups

like me;
I have a real truck/pick-up, a 1 ton, that I use to tow heavier stuff
or a 5th wheel, or a car hauler, if need be
& I can tow my RR with my 4x4 SLT Dakota too, if needed...

I don't want to drive that big *** truck/pick-up daily,
too big & less parking areas/choices
it needs bigger spaces, midsize is far more ergonomic...
'For the masses'

In my experience, almost everyone that's owned a Dakota
has really liked the size/some even loved them...

the French (even Italian's previously) don't seem to use good logic
or my type of logic anyway :poke:

nothing to see here
just venting, sharing

carry on

Yes, the Durango is in production but it's unibody, would be pretty flexible for a separate bed truck.
so is the Honda Ridgeline, they seem to sell OK
I wouldn't want one...
not because of the uni-body either :poke:

It doesn't need to be a separate bed
Ford's IIRC had a uni-body pick-up way back in what like 65-66 (?)
albeit IIRC had a frame under it, but body & bed were uni-body

wasn't the Fairlane/Falcon/Ranchero
or ElCamino uni-body at some point too

they have the Jeep Gladiator (Ram stuff) platform already too

I just like the mid-size aspect
I won't buy a mid-size GM or even Ford mid-size truck
let alone some Honda wannabe
don't want a Toyota or Nissan either

I'm one that loves my Dakota

The purpose of Stellentis is to sell more Peugeot cars. There is no other interest here. Keep in mind the French government demands profit with this new company.

Maybe they'll reconsider in a few years and come out with an electric Dakota.

I still need a Scat Pack.:)
