Hello everyone! I am replacing the sun visors in my ‘74 Charger, and I’m having some trouble inserting the rods into the new visors. Is there a trick to it? I’ve tried twisting and pushing… and I even brought in my gym rat brother to give it a shot. No luck.

Pull the rod and spray some silicone lube in the hole and the rod. You may have to clamp the rod.

I replaced mine a few years ago and YES they were very tough to get the stalk shafts inserted! I used emory cloth/fine sand paper to polish the shafts and even put grease on them and really had to force them on. They're stiil very tight to flip up and down, need 2 hands and have to rotate near the shafts. I still have the old ones in the bag the new ones came in:
from R.E.M. AUTOMOTIVE CHR-SVR-050 Old Part Number GR-446 / GR - 448 71/73 Charger Sun Visor Coachman additional numbers on label are 63EB14 and 72841
I would polish up the stalk shafts and use some grease and muscle them on.
