Taking Up New Residence

Install a c-clip on the other cup and press everything back till the clip touches. Then install the other clip.

Useing aluminum under the exposed cross, take a block of wood and hammer and send the cross back to where you just pressed it from. That will seat the last cup and clip, taking any strain off of the cross from when it was pressed.

About the other minor dilemma, tires too close to leaf springs.

I ordered 1/4" Billet Specialties spacers and longer studs. Should receive them tomorrow.

Stopped by Advance Auto and rented a lower ball joint press to press out the studs that I'm replacing. Worked like a champ!

You forgot to tell the new guys to remove the grease fitting before installing the new rear joint, sometimes 'things' break when installing! Great explanation though. Removal&install can be done with a BFhammer also, lol!

Received the spacers this morning and like I thought the holes for the studs are 1/2". I drilled them out to 5/8" to match up with the shoulder on the new studs I'm installing. I don't want any slop in the drum or spacers.

Nice! Needed that 1/4", those are some nice meats.

She needed a little attitude!

If I would have bought 4 1/4" instead of 4 1/2" back space wheels I would'nt have had to do the spacers. I'm not fond of them but these should be ok until I get the right wheels.

I've used a BFH many times. Disassembly takes about four hits. Assembly doesn't always go too well and I hate picking up those little needles out of the dirt!

I had to get a couple of loose ends taken care of before I could fire it up again to test the trans, running gear and brakes.

I had painted the battery tray when I did the wheels, so that had to be installed. One thing before that was a overflow bottle that needed mounted first. Just cut a piece of aluminum angle and drill a couple of holes

Backed her outside and I was disappointed that the trans did nothing. What a bummer!

I'll say one thing- for a white car, there's a lot of silver(on that old thing)! Luv it.

You should have seen the '64 Polara 500 I used to own when I was 18. Black with a black interior and Crager SS all around. Chrome, chrome and more chrome. Inside and out. I installed a Dana and had H50's on the rear. Man I wish I still had that one!
It looked just like this one without the hood scoop.
