The Dorks have gone next level!

I ran White walls on my 1964 Polara 500 convertble with stock spinner wheel discs. The car had a white top, and white trim in the interior, so I thought it would look fine. I could not really picture aftermarket wheels on it.

No caps on A12 cars from factory; just chrome nuts!
Yes ! thank you, you are exactly correct, my fingers now type faster than my brain. Sure , why waste caps on those cars when the owner was going to put on mag wheels and Mickey Thompsons ? LOL ! May I borrow your eraser ?

Day 2 & always...
Even as a broke *** teenager with my 1st 68 Charger R/T at 15 y/o
the steel wheels & full caps were ditched for
Crager S/ST 15x6" from & 15X10" rear, g-60 Frt/N50 Rr Pro-Trac IIRC
even my 76 Midget MKIV, 2nd day I owned it
I went & got Cragers & Radial T/As
60's front & 50's rear, at Parnelli Jones Firestone in Antioch Ca.

Some nice 15" Halibrand knock offs from Edelbrock (yes they did make wheels)
Radial T/As with p295/50 rear & p245/60 front
68 RR LL1 10-29-2017 #4 PS frt.JPG

another car my 69 RR RM23 with Cragers, about 1982-ish,
I bought it with them already on it, the Org. owner has/had class he knew :blah:
I did go wider & taller on the rears p295/15-15s
eventually & add an 500+hp 446cid STR440-6,
(put the OE hopped up 383 in my 68 PowerWagon)
a SFT cam/Race Brown 0.590" with Crane Ductile adj. rockers, Smith bros pushrods
it was already a 4 speed, just upgraded the clutch,
I then took the 3.55:1 sure-grip out, in went the 4.30:1 gears later,
I put like at least 50k miles on it on the streets of the East Bay Area & Sacramento cruises,
it drove in all kinds of traffic, w/no problems & won a lot of 'races' with it too

I don't ever remember anyone saying, your Charger R/T has the same cool wheels my grandpa's 60 Lancer had.

The mullet headed leader of the magazine makes the decisions as to what cars make the magazine.
I saw that dude in Los Angeles last weekend. I was parked next to two Challenger convertibles, standing behind my car. This dude took pictures of the other two cars then skipped mine.
Now, I don't care if my car were ever in a magazine but the dude didn't have the decency to take pictures of all three cars and just delete the one of mine later? In a shrinking market, wouldn't you try to hold onto every possible enthusiast to subscribe to your magazine?
The cars I've seen in the magazine are either stock appearing or Day Two in style. The dork doesn't appreciate anything beyond that.
I’ve had that happen, never going to cruise night at boo rays in Hudson oaks. Not only is the road construction and traffic terrible that way, but every flipping week I went I was in my 78 lil red , They would stand at the left corner take a picture of all the cars to the left. They’d stand at the right corner , all the cars to the right, completely excluding it. Thought ok they don’t understand what they are looking at and don’t care. Until I took my GTX , this was before the roof was painted , the lady took a picture of every car out there, except mine, said WTH , so I talked to them , they straight up told me cars weren’t picture worthy

Mine are kinda ratty drivers, and the GTX is definitely not a numbers “oe” restoration, they’ll never see a magazine, calendar, heck not even a car show website or facebook page …..unless….i guess they’re getting whitewalls !!!

I’m about as hardcore OE as it gets having gazed at my ‘69 when it was new, but your GTX is as cool as anything out there. That’s my opinion, and I’m sticking to it.

My car was in a magazine and that proves nothing. Your car is spot on as far as I'm concerned and the way I would have built it and have several times. All I can say is screw them. Be proud!!!

That is nice of you to post that. Please don't interpret my comments as jealousy. I just thought he was rude by not even pretending. I could have built my car to please other people but that was never the point.

KD your car is worthy of any magazine. I always tell them if you don't like my car keep walking, I built my car for me,anyone else who likes it is a bonus!

He who lives to please others will never please himself,
Me.

"Who you think you're gonna please with THAT thing?" -her
"ME!" -me
:D

I've been critical of you before, but I give credit, where credit is due. I never thought you were being jealous and I stand by what I said. Your car is extremely well rounded and the black stripe on back and the rest of it straight and uncluttered on those wheels and tires is sinister looking, in my opinion

I love (almost) all of it!
One of the few that has the stones to run the wheels he likes on a gorgeous and well-thought out 68-70 Charger and to heck with the guys that don't get it.
The 'crack I can do without:D

Mopars look especially great from the back for a reason IMO....because that's what the chebby and ferd guys always see!

I'm keeping the ww tires. The original is still on the right rear (it was the spare on this 426 4sp). The car as purchased had vintage 1968 Goodyear Polyglas G70-14 white walls. I came up with 2 nos ones to match the 2 fronts. They just look right with the factory spinner hub caps.

I have owned at least 50 '67-'73 muscle cars, all makes, but 90% MoPars. A good 80% had factory hub caps with whitewalls. A 396 '67 Camaro, a '69 428SCJ Mach One, and both '67 Coronet R/Ts (440). Of course they got canned, but to be "correct" they would have to go back on.

@chargervert Seek help for this dork dish obsession of yours, it’s staking over your critical thinking. You know how I feel, and you know that I’m putting whitewall tires on my original steelies with the dog dish, just to see what it looked like the day Jerry bought it off the lot in 1970. I’ll post pics here for you to see, no need to thank me! And for your dining and dancing pleasure, when I get paid for all the truck parts I sold my buddy, I’m getting Torque Thrust wheels to put in it, which I will post here too. Rest easy my friend, we will get through this together!
