The Roach

Yesterday, I had my buddy Dave vacuate the system, replaced the $19.00 trinary switch, recharged the system & it works like it's supposed to. 50 degrees of cold air coming out the vents.

On the way over to Dave’s shop, I started to develop a creaking in the left side of the front end. Turned out that I forgot to tighten the eye nuts on the upper control arms. Two were cockeyed on the left and one was on the right.

Got the new replacement front 3-point seat belts in this morning. These units are also from Seat Belt Planet & I owe a big thanks to @themechanic for doing the legwork for himself and me with these new units. This belt kit is not listed on their website, but they will make them up for you as a custom order. As you can see, they bolt in the rear seat footwell instead of the factory location. They also slightly impede with using the rear window crank, but in those rare times when someone is riding in the back seat, they can deal with it.

The latches & buckles look more like the ones in newer cars and while they don't look like factory latches, they work nicely.

The shoulder belt drop-downs are at the right length so they don't ride up on my neck and the retractors have good tension on them.

When I drilled the hole for the belt mechanism, I got lucky that the washer just fit.

Another punch list item is now checked off. Just a few more to go.

Ask for Steve Pekrul when you call to special order your seatbelts. You can custom order buckles, webbing, lengths, etc.

You have to use the retractor that doesn't have enough spring pressure if you want to use the factory bolt holes because the new sensitive retractor has a steel ball in the locking part requiring vertical mounting.

Here are the part numbers for the black end-release style seatbelts and hardware Mark and I ordered. You have to call if you want these belts with the floor mount retractor. They aren't listed on their website. Special order only. The parts listed below does not include labor and shipping.

Mine were $420 with 3 rear belts, 2 front belts and 1 hardware kit.
