The Roach

Got my stalling issue straightened out by a local tuner & I had them take a look at the stering noise. They vacuum bled the system & no change. After questioning Bouchillon about the problem a couple times, they are now giving me the cold shoulder.

Today, I called up QA1 & once I described the problem to them, they felt that it's in the rack and are going to send me a replacement.

Back on subject. I installed the replacement rack a couple weeks ago & there was no difference, which now lead me to the pump, which is supposed to be set up with lower pressure. After talking with this company; Sublimeparts it was determined that my PS pump the stock high pressure relief valve, so I ordered their reduced pressure relief valve & the problem is now resolved.

The stock relief valve is on top & the new one is on the bottom. Note that the spring has been cut on the stock valve. Is that what they did to supposedly reduce the pressure?

A shorter spring of the same diameter wire is actually stiffer....unless it's not making full contact.

Richard, was this on a rack system or a borgeson? (sorry, don't wanna read back 30 pages to find it) :)

Was planning to lower the pressure on my saginaw pump this spring to try to remove a little bit of hiss and make my steering a little heavier..

A lot of work but I'm glad you finally got the issue resolved.

So is the car now fully sorted and ready for action or are there other items left on the list to work out?

I still have to calibrate the gas gauge to the Dakota dash & get the a/c charged. Hopefully, that's all.

It sure is satisfying to finally fix an issue that defied common repair procedures.
These forums are great for OEM issues and lots of aftermarket upgrades/changes but as many of us find out, once you step outside from factory parts and equipment, the knowledge base to pull from shrinks a LOT. I’m sure the aftermarket companies try to help but when you don’t have millions of dollars behind you for research and development programs, often times it is the end user that ends up doing it.
The early FITech buyers learned this. Numerous smart enthusiasts tried them and ended up pulling the systems back out and switching back to carburetors because the primitive systems had component issues you could not “tune out” , resulting in beautiful cars being towed home as much as they were driven.
Score one for the Massachusetts man here.

I too have had issues with Bouchillon. Randy talks a big game and has some knowledge of what he speaks but he does have the little dog syndrome. Catch him with his pants down and you are done. I bought about 8K worth of parts from him back in 2014 for my build including the revamped computer from a 2005 Hemi Ram. When I had trouble with the voltage regulation, he kept telling me it was my battery, my wiring, my alternator.......everything but what I suspected which was the computer. Once I proved to him it was the computer, he would no longer take calls from me. He is only good at selling kits. Dealing with problems.......Not so much. Good luck getting your steering noise dealt with.

I sent an email to him a couple days ago telling him what the issue was & I haven't heard back from him, which is very disappointing. I expected better of him.

I expect your effort to be fruitless. If he does answer you, he will tell you it is your problem, you installed something wrong or what ever. I thought buying over 8 grand in parts afforded me some consideration but he wouldn't take or return any of my calls. Good luck my friend.
