@ the Woodward Dream Cruise

Gentlemen,
WOODWARD DREAM CRUISE......is a totally unique happening that you should plan on attending....at least once. The route from 9 mile road to Pontiac and back with 50,000 car and at least that many spectators is mind boggling. The local sport is stop light to stop light contests.....but be wary of the local law enforcement personnel.....very low tolerances for such activities.
The sheer number of of cars of all makes, models, colors, setups must be experienced to be believed. Of all of the possible stops, I'd recommend Duggans...a real eclectic and excellent watering hole. There are manufacturer groups scattered up snd down the route....FORD, CHEVY, PONTIAC, MOPAR, GM, OLDS, very old to muscle cars to Delorean to AMC to Corvettes. The only real detraction (in my opinion) is the large number of new, very likely leased, Cadillac Escalade's with 24" wheels and tires all with stereo sound systems playing so loud at 110db (minimum) to make your ears bleed. If i wanted to see an Escalade, I'd go to a Cadillac dealer...btw I own one already...a great tow platform...
My own recommendation: GO....but be prepared to spend $$$$$ on just about everything. Local Motels generally sell out year to year.....so if you are contemplating going NEXT YEAR, make your reservations NOW.
Maybe I'll see you next year!

I also highly recommend Back To The Bricks in Flint which also is on the same day. Big difference between the 2 events IMO.

To continue my #64 above.....Some old nostalgic spots would be Ace Wilson's Royal Pontiac in Royal Oak and Grand Spalding Dodge. The Chrysler museum was recently closed..how sad. I met Tom Hoover and members of the original Ram Chargers at the Chrysler museum . You are correct that that there is much to do in addition to the cruise. I'd suggest a day trip to MOTOWN musuem home of the origional Motown sound of Barry Gordy, the Supreme's and all of the famous talanted African American groups of the era. There is always the gambling casinos and Canada is only across the bridge. There is the Henry Ford museum....must see...an all day affair.....plus the Greenfield Village....also must see. Sign up for the Ford Assembly plant tour as soon as you can as reservations are limited on a first come first serve specific time basis.....absolutely worthwhile...must see....
ABSOLUTELY GO.....there is so much to see and do, especially for the ladies...who often just tolerate all the car cruising and noise...for our benefit. Just my opinion of course...
