Give them another shot in the cabinet blaster right before painting, to get them good and clean. Spray them down with lacquer thinner and let them dry. Use two real thin but wet coats of a good etching primer, let flash between coats, then one good wet coat of sealer, let flash, then top coat using the same procedure. Very important to let everything flash (dry, 15minutes or so, or until the wet look disappears). If you do this correctly the paint will last for decades. I am no longer a painter, but I was for 30 yrs. and Sikkens beats everything by a mile, if you have the patience.
