torque strap install

Am going to put the engine back in my 67 Coronet SB today along with a torque strap. My question is, I have the base mounted on the K frame, so do I have to put the engines back on the mounts before I install the rest of the torque strap, or can it somehow be mounted either on the block or K frame first?

Engine has to be in and sitting on the mounts first. Then adj. length and bolt to block ( actually I use the front of the left head).
