Building a 505 motor with trickflow 240 cylinder heads. Went to install the intake manifold and had huge gaps between the manifold and head. Found the manifold was hitting on the China wall of the block in all 4 corners preventing it from seating down tight against the heads. Removed some material and now it sits flat and using a feeler gauge I have less than 005” gap. Is this normal for these intakes?

Almost nothing I ever put together hasn’t had the block decked or the heads milled....... so the intake rarely fits without some massaging.

I’ve cut a ton off intakes in that same area to get them to fit.

Im doing a 400 block stroker and will be using the TF240 heads and an Edelbrock intake. So, good to know this is a possibility for my build as well. Any info is welcomed. Ruffcut

I had my deck cut .025", I still had .030" between the rpm intake and rpm heads when lined up with the ports. Used the bath tub gasket with paper gaskets either side. Pulled it down with RTV between the bath tub and gaskets, let it set up then removed it and cut off the excess RTV, worked out good.
