Trouble with oiling to rocker shafts

Anyway, the option is there. But more preload generally results in less lift or the valves not completely closing.

Because the oil pressure maintains the preload. In order to be noisy the lifter(s) would have to bleed down.
and they do. my gtx's and and rt's came from the factory with over .100 preload. most non performance lifters have .160 to .200 travel

l drove around for years with noisy lifters more after a getting on it because Hughes engines and others said. 025-.030. now Hughes is saying .080- .095.

Did another 1/4 turn of preload(3/4 total), and the clattering noise stopped. Valve covers are going back on. Car idled perfectly but we'll see how it feels on the road.
