Turn the key and nothing happens..... HELP

I didn't bypass the brown wire, I wonder if I rewired that if that would give it a bigger spark? Maybe the red one also burnt that wire?

Okay the bat is still at 12.7 v, I think she's full charged

let her rip mang! :)

I turned it over and there was a big baboom, similar to a gun shot, and my garage is all smokey. Was that just a huge backfire?
The car turns over normally now. Still not wanting to start. I smell a burnt plasic smell in the engine bay too

out of time! big time!

waaay out of time will cause a backfire...

put the distributor back the way it was i guess lol...

It cranks over smooth now though. Do you think that's just from the battery being charged?

ahh hell man, i don't know lol...:laughing6:

have you been pumping the gas pedal alot since you got it to crank over..?

If yes, that could cause a backfire...

Okay I tried turning it over again and a fire ball came out of the carb. I think its time to flip it around.

yup, it's gotta be 180 out...

it's got fuel in the system...dont pump it no more lol...just let it crank...

oh yea its got fuel. Hiroshima style!!

I flipped it over and now it turns weird again. I wonter what is causeing it to backfire?

ugh...idk mang :(

I'm gonna hang it up for the evening, i'm beat lol...good luck with her :)

Put the dizzy back the way it was, and retard the timing a little. Without giving it more gas, fire her back up and see what happens. Backfire through the carb means timing too advanced.

:eusa_whistle:

I'm gonna suggest a fire extinguisher might be a good idea......

When you had the motor apart, did you take the spark plug wires off the dizzy? If so, I'm wondering if the wires maybe in the wrong places.

After turning it 5* more so the vacuum canister isalmost pointing staight back just a little towards the passenger side and it still popped.
I just change the cap so maybe I put the wires on wrong. How can I make sure they are on right?
I'm done in for garage tonight I've been in there since 9pm.
