UPS vs USPS

At 11:52 AM yesterday I ordered some parts from Jim at Detroit Muscle Technologies (DMT). I have spoken with Jim and know that he does not use USPS anymore because of issues (very slow deliveries, poor tracking, etc.). He ships everything UPS. Today the parts I ordered were on my front porch. I don't know what time the parts arrived and I don't care, they were here. Now it is a fact that I live only live 2 hours away from DMT but still, the parts arrived basically overnight. So a shout out to Jim and his crew for caring enough to make sure his customers get their parts in a timely manner.

After UPS upcharging me on a dozen shipments I switched to USPS priority 'if it fits it ships' boxes mostly but even on the larger stuff I've had much better luck with them. Kinda strange that some places have great results while others do not....

Something is broken at USPS lately for sure. Last number of packages have taken 10 days to get across the country to Az. The tracking says it gets stuck (usually in the Midwest) then no new updates until it hits my post office.

Being in Canada and having shipped parts to and from the USA I have to say hands down USPS is the way to go. UPS adds a brokerage fee, to name one serious drawback.

I have a package being shipped to me, that has been lost or sitting in Atlanta since the 21st of February. USPS has sucked in my opinion since over a month before Christmas. Two day Priority Mail is now 3-4 days and they offer no excuses. Due to damaged goods, sent and received all my larger packages go UPS now.

Lets face it really...UPS and USPS don't do anything but billing. It is the distribution centers and the drivers that move the merchandise. Some areas have better employees than others. Just like going to the market. Some baggers know to put cold items with cold etc... some just put anything into any bag just to get done with it. Blame the Store ?

Lets face it, the top management at 99% of any company doesn't really know what happens on the delivery person level. The bigger he company the farther from the end customer the owners/supervisors are from the action. It is called lack of pride/responsibility in todays society. We see poor me being pushed by the media daily. It wasn't me ! How many times have we heard that ?
The big difference beside higher rates with UPS is that they drive bigger delivery trucks.

Guys, lets all face it,People in general don't give a damn about anything but doing as little as possible for the most amount of pay. I'm talking about employees along with business. Remember when you were proud of the work you did in a day ? Those days are long gone.
People aren't even nice anymore.It's like pullin' teeth just to have some one say hello or good morning.

I had to ship my console tach to a place in Canada for circuit board repairs and a Google search said best way to ship was USPS. I asked them if they agreed and they said Oh crap - no. Their stuff goes to a customs warehouse and sits there for sometimes 90 days or more before it ever moves again. They said PLEASE - use Fed Ex or UPS - they will bring it right to our door pronto. And they did.

I bought a piece of trim from another member. Perfectly straight. Got the box a few days later. Second I saw the box I knew they bent it. USPS. The trim was bent in a friggan 90 degree angle. I went to the PO to file a claim,, they tell me,, the person who sent it has to file the claim. I was beyond pissed. So the seller boxes it up, in perfect condition, you guy F ing bend it, now he has to file the claim? Ya, makes sense. I’ll never use them again. Never had issues with UPS or FedEx

(USPS) I ordered part from another member, its been stuck in Florida since the 22nd last month this sucks i really need it and its a hard to find part for me at a good price. I filled claim today and they said i need to wait 30 days.

I'll probably jinx myself, but been using USPS quite a bit the past few months. Nov and Dec were rough, but every shipper was drowning in volume. All shipments did ultimately get through for me.

The past month all but one shipment went through in record time, be it PA, VT, CA or even Fl. This week a pkg went to Fl in 3 days.
