Hey All, I'd like to see what someone other than myself comes up with for my VIN#, my gloucoma meds may be causing me Uh, oh yeah, I get 383/2bbl but build sheet says 4bbl/ 4sp ??

VIN WP23G61310391 decodes as follows:
Description Interpretation Code
Model: Dodge Charger or Coronet W
Price Class: Premium P
Body Type: 2 door hardtop 23
Engine: 383ci V8 2bbl (B motor) G
Year: 1966 6
Assembly Plant: Lynch Road, MI 1
Sequence Number: 310391 310391

Pops, thats what I got also....... why does it have a 4bbl and fender badge says 383
FOUR BARREL

Because sources like on line VIN decoders don't give you the details.

The letter G only tells us it was a 383. There is no distinction between a 383-2 or 383-4 designated in a 66 VIN. You have to know what body style you are talking about to determine if it's a 2 or 4 bbl.

There was no 383-2bbl in a 66 B body. You could only get the 383-4 in a B body.

Hamtranck Historical is your friend: http://www.hamtramck-historical.com/dealerships/1966DealershipDataBook-04.shtml

66 Coronet 500 hard top. 383-4. Built at Lynch Road plant.

69Coronetrt is dead on.

Only a 4 barrel 383 in a 66 Coronet.

Next motor down was 361- changed for 67 when the 383-2 replaced the 361.

Then the H code was the 383-4, which is what most people think of.

Lots of decoders don't catch that.

...and the 66 Plymouth FSM has an error, and all the codes are off by one letter!

Looks good and solid.

I remember discussing 361 (F) vs 383 (G) and another car- red maybe 440 model.

66 coronet with 383....."G" was a 2 barrell option in 67. "G" was 383 4 barrell in 66. "H" was a hemi in 66
"H" is a 383 4 barrell in 67

Ooh, your good, I went with this one because I wanted a REAL DEAL big block 4sp, and the 500's in 4sp ONLY came with a 361,383 or HEMI no small block 4sp 500's.....

this thing is SOLID, no holes ANYWHERE
