Water pump shaft end play

Is there any end play on the water pump shaft? very minor but just a tiny bit? Anyone have this? Is there supposed to be?

Mine can move up about a 1/16th"

If its new, usually no.

It's new as far as maybe 1000 miles on it but i had a little play in it works fine just didn't seem normal, 440source pump too likely why!

any movement is bad,could mean bearing wasnt presed all the way on when built.or worse,is comming off.if you keep running it i would check it on a regular basis.if it gets any worse at all,change it out.

No good. Swap it for a mopar one

Seeing the way water pumps are put together I'd say no real detectable axial or radial play.

There are so many better made water pumps out there. I would ditch it, and sleep well! 440 Source has some good stuff, but they are in a learning curve. It's all chinese stuff, but it gets better over time. Their BB heads are great, the hardware in them is shady.
