There is no such thing as the north Américan continent and the South American continent , América, the continent is from the north of Canada to the South of Argentina.

Admittedly, that's something they did not teach when I went thru public schools in the 60's-70's.
Also admittedly, I am weak on PM's, but I'm not bad on provinces and such - more out of self-education
and getting old.

Flat maps aren't accurate for judging size. As flat map goes north place like Greenland get larger than they really are.
