What-if...new INDY Modman

It's been a while since I've posted here because over the winter there wasn't much activity of interest to me here. Now my question...If INDY were to remake the BB WEDGE MODMAN intake, drastically improving it's performance AND it were available for either standard or MW port and B or RB. Where you could use either AFB's or 4150 Holley's. Would $1500 be fair for an intake that would require no modifications to get significant improvement over your single 4150 combo? I'm open to input as to where there is a market for something like this. (e.g.- MW low-deck would have the biggest market, etc)

My take on the current Modman is that is worthless unless you modify it like you have.

I guess my question would be how many people are going to change the carburetor configuration once they get a set of carbs on it?

So the only benefit I see is to the seller in that one intake can provide multiple carb arrangements without creating 3-4 intakes.

Since, Indy already has a tunnel ram and the 440-25 Crossram is there a need?

The tooling cost to repop a modified Modman (and I like what you've done) is probably never going to sell enough to recoup the cost in the small market it would exist in.

Would someone pay $1500 for it? I can answer the question with, I am getting ready to buy a 440-25 Crossram because I want one and can afford it.

However a $1500 intake is way out of the average consumers budget for an intake. Like it or not the market is getting smaller every year.

Thank you and I agree with most of this! I considered Offering a DIY kit for this internal conversion. With a pair of 4150's I think this intake optimized would outperform a 440-25 on certain applications. I also would consider this intake with 2 cheap AFB's potentially better than a single 4150 again on certain applications.
 
I am considering buying a 440-25 intake so a new mod man would be interesting. My combo now was built with street use in mind. Looking to go faster and not worry about the street
 
The low-deck Max Wedge port configuration may be the best
not a lot of great choices that don't need a ton of mods/porting
to fit a low-deck 383/400 with Max Wedge heads, selections is very limited...
& are Pricey too

That's not likely to happen any time soon as I did this work for a friend. The performance should speak for itself even now. But, it's not optimized yet based on the variation the AF ratio has with the hoodscoops and trays he's been trying.

In your pic is a gen2 Hemi. That particular modman isn't as bad because the runner length is longer for one reason. On the wedge low-deck I was able to get nearly 5'' of runner length total IIRC which added about 2" to each runner on average.

Little update on the low deck ModMan…car went 9.61/139 in 8.8% correction conditions 3400DA. This was at 3420# Still a little more in it but, we’re both happy with the current performance. The only change from 2weeks ago in better weather was replacing the AFBs with a different pair known to be good. This was without an airpan too. I don’t need a dyno to say this is a really good intake anymore.

Forgot to add that it ran .2 and 6mph better than it did 2 weeks ago in better conditions with the AFB swapped. It was REALLY frustrating until this swap because i knew the motor would be stronger, including the intake. But sometimes it just takes a while to figure things out.
