So I'm wondering what slick you guys are having the best luck with? 69 GTX probably 4000lbs, auto. 590 hp. Has cal tracs. Will be running at a track with medium to good track prep. Looking for something in the 10.5/28/15

I ran radials on my 68 GTX. 11.20 @ 121. Drove to the track with them. Never had an issue hooking...So I'm wondering what slick you guys are having the best luck with? 69 GTX probably 4000lbs, auto. 590 hp. Has cal tracs. I have that tire on mine now. Same R2 compound as the SS. Same 60’ time.I’d use ET street R.
I think He doesn’t even need the biggest if it’s a 4000 pound car only turning mid 11 et’s. The 275/60 or 28x10.5 x15 tire is perfect.O.P. asked about slicks, so that's what I suggested.
He would probably be fine with the biggest drag radial that will fit under the car, or a bias Mickey or Hoosier ET street type.
Tuning the caltracs might be necessary too
Possibly not. But if I'm buying expensive tires to race on, I'm buying the biggest that will fit.I think He doesn’t even need the biggest if it’s a 4000 pound car only turning mid 11 et’s. The 275/60 or 28x10.5 x15 tire is perfect.
This doesn’t need that much tire nor would those fit without significant mods. The 315 is a 30” tire and the 275 is a shorter 28” which, in this case, will work better with the gear in this car.Possibly not. But if I'm buying expensive tires to race on, I'm buying the biggest that will fit.
That's why there's an 18/31x15 Hoosier QuickTime pro on my car.
It probably would be quicker on a 315 ET Street Pro.
My mistake, what I meant was MY car would be quicker on a 315. I doubt a 315 will fit his car. This doesn’t need that much tire nor would those fit without significant mods. The 315 is a 30” tire and the 275 is a shorter 28” which, in this case, will work better with the gear in this car.
Mine are on a 8.5 centerline. If you can find a 10" with the right backspace, a 10 would be preferred. The stock eliminator guys are running 9x30s on a ten inch rim.If I can ask, what would be the best rim width for the 28×10.5×15 slicks? 8"? 10"?
9.5 is the max recommended by Mickey thompson. Depending on your car anywhere from 8-10 would work. Offsets are important. Centerline has 4 7/8" rear backspacing in their 15x8.5" draglite and convo pros which would work nicely. If I can ask, what would be the best rim width for the 28×10.5×15 slicks? 8"? 10"?
Same rear gear as mine. Same GVOD. I run the 275/60-15 as I think the additional sidewall height is an advantage on the track. I’m on an 8” wheel but a 10” wide would be ideal. My car has 3.73 gears. It currently has 325/50/15 M/T drag radials. But I've been thinking of getting some 10.5/28 slicks on 10" rims to switch at the track. When I don't need the street tires. also GV overdrive
