Why are 426 hemis from 68-70s so expensive ? Are they worth buying ?
...Because not many were made and they and original hemi's are valuable to people restoring original hemi cars?
It is possible to build a Hemi on the cheap if you don't mind using used race parts and a repaired windowed block.
You might be able to build a hemi for around 5k using all used race parts and either a repaired MP iron block or a half filled aluminum block, but that's not really a good idea for a inexperienced engine builder and especially not someone who dosen't know hemis. And I'm talking scrounging old top fuel parts at swap meets and marketplace...How much cheaper would it be?
Finding the block would be the issue, I’m new here so this is a lot of info form me. Original hemi car?
I see repaired Iron blocks on marketplace every once in a while for around $1000At one time Mopar Performance was selling blocks for $4500.
That was a bare block that still needed machining.Go to a site like Mancini Racing and start looking at parts prices.
Have a stroked 440 or 400 (my favorite) built. Way cheaper and will put just as many smiles on your face when you stand on the gas pedal. Unless of course you have to have a Hemi.Finding the block would be the issue, I’m new here so this is a lot of info form me. I’m trying to fix up my 69 charger

Build a 383. You'll love it.it is not an original hemi car, it’s a 383. I want to put a 440 but then I thought hey maybe a hemi. But I saw the prices on hemis and I backed off the hemi idea
If you want I'll sell you the 472 HEMI,K frame, transmission, headers, radiator, and attaching parts for $20,000
This is what is in my 65 Belvedere. It has 600 miles on it.

Lmao if you swap out a hemi for a /6 you are out of your mind. Not really, My brother was still building the car when he died.
My plans are to do a Slant 6 with ps,pb,a/c,and use it more than I do now.
