worst car show

I have started watching some of the episodes from Fired Up Garage - the Misfits ex Gas Monkey days..... loads of manufactured drama and shouting at each other - it's easy to make fin of those idiots when they set themselves up for it constantly.

It is also refreshing to watch Sue tell them to get the hell out of her shop and take your smelly junk with you.

I know a guy who looks and acts like Tom from Misfit Garage...... we used to call him "Paint Chip"

Top tip for you..... Mike Brewer is also a tool....just a lot shorter and less useful.

I tried to get info on that Dodge A100 build they did a few years ago, and I got a note back saying sorry .... and they didn't have any records of what was done. Either that was BS or they don't want to share. Waste of time having a fan contact page IMHO.
I got in touch with the eventual buyer, and he was just as elusive when we were exchanging text messages. All the excuses under the sun to not take a couple of quick pictures under the front end.
@kiwigtx was that the light green/greyish 65 A-100 sportsman van
Mike bought here in the states somewhere
when Ant was the tech, doing the work, down in LA area ?

I did like Ant better then Ed

(I was never a fan of Ed, he installed dirty parts on dirty cars,
seemingly/constantly, like 'lipstick on a pig'
)

I liked that van build, like a 'surfer build' tribute
w/independent suspension & ditching the drop axle & kingpins, leaf springs
I liked the wheels choice/kidney slots on it too (IIRC)

Yes indeed it was. The photos below are the ones I found when the buyer took it for repairs at a shop in New York somewhere.

All I wanted to know was how they achieved connection between the steering shaft and the steering rack - a most important part of that build that was purposely left out of the show....and there were only a few milliseconds of footage as a camera glanced by the bottom end that showed potentially a hydraulic ram of sorts.

then he was spinning the distributor like he was tuning a radio, first backfiring thru the pipes...... then thru the carb......
Watched part of an episode where they were firing up a hemi after getting the car mostly completed. When it didn't start after a couple tries he moves the distributor around hoping it will start. Wouldn't you think the proper timing would have already been locked down on the run-in stand?

they have some pretty cars on set...... but I just saw a couple thousand of them at Carlisle

as someone who actually does some of this stuff in the real world; these idiots are less than impressive

Most of the Roadkill stuff is good although I do hate to see them trash the crap out of some of the stuff. Junkyard Gold is good, I like that. Full custom was good early on but Ian started getting a big head, very talented guy but I got tired of hearing how good he is. I still watch it but there hasn't been any new episodes.

He does the YouTube thing

Oh really??? LOL yeah I see that has a YT channel and keeps moving shops. For me he is pretty much unwatchable, he is an artist not a car builder. His "cars" are about design not function and for the most part pretty much junk.

looks to me he farms out body and paint on the ones that matter....... Victor has his own team of mud slingers and painters........ I don't see any way those cars aren't total bondo buckets.......

he's a very talented metal artist, sort of a one trick pony........ seems like a super cool dude to hang out with

The A-100s that I have seen have a unique transmission mount design where the case is supported with a cast in mount on top of the transmission. This one here looks to have had a custom mount made as a workaround. Interesting.

I discovered I have Motortrend TV as part of my package.....who knew? ....... anyway, I came across "Dallas Car Sharks" ...... My God, I'm bleeding IQ points......who watches this sh#t?
 I've watched it a few times when there was nothing else on at all! The only thing good about Graveyard Cars are all the Mopars but after two episodes of that, I have to go do something else!

MTtv,
A newer one that went like 1 season (?), I doubt it will be renewed
Carolina Classics I think it's called, don't care for the style at all
a couple of the techs have some talent
the owner like Mark Worman/GYC is hardly watchable

One if not my favorite is Engine Masters, right up my alley
lots of BB MoPar Wedges stuff, too many LS, but it's the era
some cool Freiburger's personal builds, a blown BBC N2O
& a land speed Bonneville build (for the white gen 2 Camaro he runs)
& F-rod 572 (?) BBC Tunnel ram, 850-iah HP N/A, mild mech fuel pump even

I still like show 4 wheeler (what ever it was changed name),
with crazy spiked haired Ian, he is a fabrication nut,
dude has a big budget thou, but he's a great craftsman/serious skills
welds up/fabs/builds stuff from ground up literally, lots of trucks & Jeeps stuff
very cool offroad scenes & adventures/rock crawling stuff

I miss the Dirt Everyday guys,
it was silly a lot, they didn't take themselves very seriously
had fun but not the crazy stupid scripted Mark-isms crap like GYC's is
Dave Chappel, lil blonde haired guy is a great fabricator, & fast
other cohost Fred is a total goof
he plans the builds more or less, it's built usually in his SoCal shop
they used to have a big budget for their builds, always some trick stuff
under some real junk, sort of Roadkill Garage/Roadkill formula

I DVR'd a crapload of Roadkill episodes & Roadkill Garage (my favorite)
saved like 30-ish of each
mostly only save the episode with MoPars in them, a few others of the
Crusher Impala or Crusher Camaro (it's a hotrod icon, loved or hated)
the F-rod 31 Ford Mdl A, 8.50car was a cool build too,
sort of slow for what it is, but cool build...
Freiburger does a decent job on explaining what he's doing, especially electrical/wiring
he's also OCD at it's worst

I DVR Graveyard Carz, so I can ffwd thru all Marks (& some of Dougie's crap)
it not for the cool MoPars I'de have never watched any, I've see every episode
thru ffwd DVR'd

I liked most of the Garage Squad shows, Joe & Bruno are funny
it's not a all OE crap stuff, it's real-world cars & replacement stuff
& not all the grab *** attempts to be funny...
but;
the early shows weren't that great, the org. lady was a dry stuck up braod
when they got the lil' skinny blonde haired gal (Heather) it was way better...
I didn't care for most the later seasons with Boggie or Christie
(org. from All Girls Garage gals, another 'not good' show)
builds, when they got into the show, it was already going down hill...
They did a few RRs & a 69 Daytona (not an all OE deal) just got it back on the road,
the org. owners son inherited & his young son, were part of the build
they did a few gen 2 Charger Tributes 69 & 70 from street racer back to street car
& a Ramcharger 4x4, a Duster for a wedding & a Swinger Dart w/2 MoPar kids,
a couple Challengers, a 71 'cuda 340 convertible moldy rusty
a few Fords. a cool 56 f100 more modern 302
& cool 57 Chevy Gasser/streeter LS7 bbC tunnel ram 70's father tribute
mostly all the org. parts, he had & did a Mach 1 for the mother
that was sitting for decades too
it's really not a paint & body work show, Joe don't paint is his mantra
Joe can paint chooses not to mostly, the kid Kinkster has become a decent painter
they're really parts replacers mostly
they did a nice 65 Impala Pro-touring lite, very nice car/build
& a 56 Chevy Blown BBC Gasser, custom pre-made chassis, drag car, tilt front fiberglass
that guy/owner had a shitload of hi-$$ parts,
& the Vega F/C that ran a 7.90, was a lot of fabs stuff, a lot like when I built mine
That young kid Kinkster is a worker, so is Ronny, a good tech
that F/C wan't a bad show build, it was slow for what it is, but cool build, detailed stuff
a couple of them builds like the season 1,
67 Barracuda notchback slime green w/tubbed rear, 440/499 (?) wasn't all that bad
I like a few of their builds, mostly the MoPars too, a few 4x4s too

There is something for everyone I guess. I dont have TV so now it is all YouTube. It seems like the real honest shows wherein the main person is not just looking for the $$ are the best but they tend to be a bit chaotic because they are not scripted.

Each to his own.

They used a transmission out of a car....big problem as they had to fab up a new trans mount mid-way....and now it has a two-piece drivesahft....waste of effort. :)

I think his nickname is Kingster.....

Actor Tim Curry was the Kinkster.....
