Would a gunshot beside my phone damage it? (Response to warranty calls)

These a$$holes that KEEP calling about my "extended warranty"... I remember many years ago, reading about someone who would blow a police whistle into their house phone to discourage the scammer calls... I would imagine it would put the ears of some of these crooks out of business for a few minutes. Today, I seriously considered holding my cell phone beside my 9MM and taking a potshot for one of their people's listening pleasure. Do you think doing this would damage my phone??? (Asking for a friend)

The first thing they are going to ask you is the year, make, model, and mileage of your car. They don't have the slightest idea who they are calling or what you drive. I mess with them hard. I answer 1956 Desoto Station waggon 72 thousand miles. There answer is no I'm serious, and I reply so am I. Usually at this point I get hung up on.

They have the ability ro call us at will, whereas we have no clue who or where they are. For that reason, I don't do things that would make them take an interest in me. I waste their time. I answer and then say nothing until they hang up. My hopes that they pass my number around as a dead end number.

The gun shot noise won’t hurt your phone. There is an app that shooters use to time multiple shots in competition matches. Save the ammo.

It certainly did when my Wife did that with the double barrel 12 gauge some 35 years ago. I found parts of the phone in the neighbours yard..

Well, yes and no....problem is, these days they have advanced software they use that
"emulates" real, legitimate numbers of unrelated businesses and people when the number
is displayed on your caller ID.
There has been a need for a national-level crackdown on this horseshit for many years now
and I don't understand why it hasn't been brought up in Congress - at least seriously.

Cell phone minutes are free , mostly, so say please hold and set the phone down. The object is to waste their time, not yours.

I have a small air horn by my home phone. ( We never give that number out it's just put down for warranty information) If it's a telemarketer they get a blast on the horn. I will say I have killed several cordless phones that way. But you can get 6 for 45.00 at Walmart so it worth it to me for pay back.

I got them also. If I hung up, they would know when I answered and call at that time, If I said anything, no matter how rude, they would tire again!! as all the calls are by a computer. What I did next has Solved my problem -so far- going on three weeks. I actually push button 2 to talk to a representative. I also know a bit about how they work as I used to be on the Service shop end tring to get money out of them. I try to keep that person on the phone as long as possible asking every kind of stupid question I could think of - occasionally asking one or two over again. until THEY HUNG UP ! The wife was laughing. I asked things like if I paint the vehicle does the warranty still apply, What if the tires are new, is the engine still covered? ETC.ETC.......

I bought a new car a few months ago. The Chrysler extended warranty people send 2-3 emails every day. Strange thing is I got the dealer to throw in the same 100K warranty they want to sell me.

They call fairly often and I have tried a few things. First few time it was my 68 Dart, no? Ok my 28 model a, oh, still no? Ok my daily driver 64 D100, crap still no. They want 2006 and newer, oh ok, I got that, 2007 Cub Cadet LT1050. They finally gave up when they couldn’t find the manufacturer of it.

Now when they call I tell them I’m a fleet manager and have over 40 2007 and new cars that all are out of warranty and could use a service contract and they loose their minds but I keep telling them I need the last 6 of the VIN for the car or truck they are calling me about. Last one went for a 1/2 hour and involved 3 levels of idiots, big fun for no money.
