Well. IF I can get my hands on a right rear parking brake cable, a 27" output shaft and long tail housing, a couple of fuel cell filler neck items, and get my cam bearings installed, I will be done, painted, assembled and registered by August. Now, if I had 3-4000 dollars to spend I could be done by mid June. lol. There are some other small things but not a lot. The time consuming stuff with the Audi equipment is nearly finished. The body mods are done except for filler here and there. Might take a whole month to get the windows and guts back in correctly....lol.

Ill keep and eye out? Why the long tail housing and short shaft?

Got it apart and it looks to be in great shape, the bushings are less worn than my 73. It turns out that it's a 74 440 4 brrl version with 4 frictions front and back and a higher number lever.

Four clutch front retainer and four pinion planets? And it looks like drum is in good shape and end play was not too bad. Are they both four pinion gear sets? And you have the hardened input shaft!! Score!!!

New 74 car trans looks pretty dang good Ghost

Here's the 74 & 73' pumps and the 74' valve body opened up. The '74 valve body separator plate has been drilled for a shift kit.
The reaction shaft support with two check balls is the 1973 unit.

I hope to be driving it by the fall. The rub is that i'm going through medical permanent disability retirement from the Army and the VA disability treadmill, plus social stupity, etc. so my finances are not optimal just now. Trying to trade for stuff. Hanging in there and working it a little at a time,.gotta pull the gas tank and some lines then I can blast away. I agree, the 67's are really sweet looking in the smooth lines and proportions. Proud to own it.
