Vegas (and others) are in the sun during the DAYTIME.
The majority of power consumption (lighting, etc) is at NIGHT.
Solar does not generate at night.
You have to STORE the electricity until the demand is there. Normal power plants 'throttle up' when demand rises, and 'throttle down' when demand is light. Power doesn't just...
sit there.
For an intermittent supply source like solar or wind, that takes.....batteries. LOTS and LOTS of batteries.

for the end user...but all those materials have to come from somewhere, get processed somewhere...and, eventually, be
disposed of somewhere.
