Almost missed this, I knew there was a way and ive thought of a couple myself. I was thinking using some hose and fabing maybe two wide plastic pieces something like a wide attachment on a vacuum sweeper for outside of the core support, getting or making a duel snorkel air cleaner and running hoses to it. Thats kind of a short description of what i was thinking but i think it explains what i mean.. using maybe defroster vents from a dash instead of building my own pieces like a sweeper attachment. i had it figured out where it would actually look good but i just cant see enough of a benefit in doing it, They did somewhere give you the numbers for an actual ram air HP increase and i don't think it was more then 2? I thought about it just for the idea it would be a cool conversation thing, having a 318 im not at this point looking for bad azz HP.. that part of my car is coming but down the road, i have a BB but the 73 will never see it in there, im studying and researching what can be done to a 318 to get what i want, im told it isint a stock bore anymore but don't know, it has a roller cam in it but thats it as far as i know and when the time comes ill find out it the other is true.. Long story i guess for my idea of how to gain the air, and im not the one looking to do it, lol..:grin: sorry.

Crossed my mind as well - but, just because the hood LOOKS like it would provide the ram-air effect, doesn't mean it will (got a wind tunnel to test in ?) There may be no added noticeable benefit, but it always looked to me like maybe Chrysler planned on going in that direction with the hood ..... dunno. I heard once that they were going to continue using the RR platform for NASCAR but switched to the Charger for 73-4 , maybe the hood design would have had a benefit on the track ?

Using a 73-74 Plymouth on the Nascar circuit, i think its because of the hood design that it wouldn't have worked on the track, not the way they are set up as we see them now at least.. JMO Someone photo shopped some machine gun barrels sticking out those vents, now that looked bad to the bone! You had to see them, they really did look pretty cool lol. 
Nascar might have accepted the Charger because of the more sleek look, if you look at a side view of them they seem to look a tad lower thinner slimmer body style, maybe its just me, but they seem to look like they would cut thru the wind better then the Plymouth's.. and again JMO. Im not afraid of being wrong, wouldn't be the first time but ive thought of this many times and comparing the two, Charger really does look like it could get thru the air a little better... Id like to hear some theory on why, there has to be an answer to it as why the Charger..

If you get bored some weekend, take a paper towell center tube, and tie pieces of string to it, about 3-4" long and a 1/4" or so apart as you go up the tube's length. Tape one end of the tube to your hood, right in front of the bulge so it sticks up like a smokestack, and take the car for a drive.
If you watch the strings, you'll see how the air is flowing over your hood. the area from the base to two inches or so up will be whipping around in all directions, and the strings above that will be pushed straight back. Thats because the area from the hood to 2" up is filled with air that's roiled by paint imperfections, the design of the hood, air rising up between the front of the hood and the valance, and heat. This air moves about in all directions no matter how fast you go, which is why true ram air systems have to have openings that are at least two inches (preferably three inches) above the hood height. If you look at the 440 Six Pack hoods, they are high enough to get past the roiled air and take in smooth air. The inlets on the 73-74 hoods are way too low to allow smooth air in, so they can never be used to support a ram air system.
What they can be used for is to bring in cooler air from outside the engine bay, which allows for a better fuel/air mixture than hotter air from the engine bay. You just need to seal off the air cleaner. I did this by making a large baseplate that replaced the base of the aircleaner, and had a 4" rubber seal going around it that mated to the underside of the buldge when the hood was closed. I also closed off the openings under the hood near the back of the buldge so all the air being sucked into the air cleaner came through the opened up buldge vents.

Well, I've locked down a Go Wing for the Roadrunner, so I guess I'll have to get a front spoiler to balance it out.

I just ordered a re-pop 69 Camaro spoiler. We'll see how this goes.

I got the '69 Camaro spoiler in, and bad news... it doesn't fit. It would fit great except for the center area of the lower front valance extending downward.
I tried cutting the center section of the spoiler out so it would fit over the valance extension. It fit better and could probably be adapted to work, but then you would have a spoiler that's about four inches wide on the sides and two inches or so wide for about the center 12 inches, and that might look a bit off to some people.

randy contacted me back says hes working on a 71-72 roadrunner front spoiler and it should be done the prototype in a couple weeks!

Okay, I might have to reverse myself on my last post. I looked at the pictures of the Randy spoiler installation again, and noticed those spoilers are mounted behind the center bulge of the lower valance. I was checking to see if the Camaro spoiler would mount on that bulge. Last night I held the spoiler up behind the bulge and it looked like it would fit just fine.
I'm thinking now that the Camaro spoiler will work as it's nearly identical to the 73-74 Roadrunner spoiler shown in his ad. I guess I have to get under the car again tonight and see what I can do. $40 sure beats $160. ;)

Hey Sputnik. Yep, I got the spoiler on. I wanted to move it further forward than the Randy spoiler installs to make the spoiler more pronounced, so I cut out a section of the center of the spoiler so I could mount it on the front valance hump. Here are some pics:

The more i go back to that site and see here what you all have done the more im talking myself into one.. I love the look of them on your cars here with them, you all have them looking great.. I have a question though, My wing is white and im wondering if i got one if it should be black or white to stand out matching the wing.. I keep thinking it would look better matched to the wing, any one care to share an opinion on the way it would look best, leave it black, white or maybe paint it red with the cars color?

I like having the spoiler and rear wing both having the Steelers stripes since it breaks up the amount of black on the car. Since white is the primary contrast color on your car, I think a white spoiler would look good... just be hard to keep clean.
