Wondered if someone could shed some light on this little yard sale find I picked up today. Looking online, I haven't seen a SW tach that actually had "Chrysler" on the face plate. Wondering what it may have come off of and if this is fairly rare or sought after as it seems to be a dealer add-on type option. Appreciate any thoughts.

Thanks. That makes sense of the 5K limit. Crud. Not as cool a find as I thought. Didn't even know Chrysler had a marine division.

Oh yeah....goes back a ways too. Chrysler started out in the Marine business by making engines for other manufacturers. They started in 1926, and started supplying builders like Chris Craft with engines. At one point in the 40's Chrysler had about 40 percent of the marine engine market.

And when it mentioned a gooberment bailout....it wasn't. It was a goobement guaranteed loan. The recent GM deal was a gooberment bailout and was totally different than what Chrysler did over 30 years ago. The banks that did the loans wanted backing before they would agree to loan that much money and Chrysler stock remained on the NYSE all through the deal....again, unlike GM did. GM and the gooberment screwed a lot of people with the bailout crap that they did but the union at GM were well taken care of.
