Yes, there's a picture of the weld on the previous page. I've seen a few before that'd done this. Also because it'll be run at the strip I thought it would add some more strength to the overall car.

Ron the AMD stuff isn't real terrible in my opinion, but just a little more attention on their part could make these great parts. Most of what I ran into was, bends not to 90, extra material length where not needed & not enough where needed on joints. But once they are on they do look good. I'm a Tool & Die maker and most of their flaws could very easily be taken care of, if they wanted to.

Yea, I saw the pic and thought it was a weld but just wanted to make sure. So now you'll put filler/bondo over that to smooth it out?
I've also put extra welds on a lot of different things on my car as well. Most of the factory welds look crappy so I went over many of them too.
And yes the AMD stuff is like everything else we buy for these cars, just a little bit off from being/working like the original. But with tweaking, double checking, and info from this forum we can usually make it work right.

Yes filled seam with weld, grind, fill. I'll try to post a picture for ya of it filled.

I do agree and GTX i know what you mean, i think it would be hard to reproduce these parts and actually get them 100 % right, there will be the "tweaking" and as Kevin says, help from here is always a plus... Thanks guys!!! It really is great to know you have help if its an encouraging word alone, sometimes just a "been there buddy!" lol

Progress !!! Here's pictures of the seam filled. I need help getting a paint code for Sikkens for B5 blue.

Looking good! Has your shop worked on tail extenisions yet? That was the area I had to spend a lot of time.

Yes got them looking goodDSC01939[1].jpgDSC01940[1].jpg

I decided to go with the gaskets between them instead of using the seam sealer on them. I have seen cars that the sealer was cracking and looked bad.

I brought the trim for the back window and it looks like the last curve at the bottom of the rear window needs some work for the trim to lay in there nice.

Looking good is an understatement, I think they look a bit better then "looking good' but ok your the boss!! :)

I hear ya there. I can paint, but body work, I suck!

By the way near miss on the paint. He matched paint to a chip book for the B5 blue. I told him I didn't want anything painted til I approved the color. Good thing! He matched the paint perfect to the chip, but, it looked like Q5 instaed of B5!!!! I took him a pint of PPG 2019 (B5) to compare. I'd have been sick if the car had that on it. Only thing we can figure is they made a typo in the book or got chips mixed up. Lesson from this, double check everything!!!!!!!

The GTX got some color today!!! Just the trunk, but still excited to see some B5 on the car :headbang:

It's not pearl, just the reflection of the heat lamp farther in the trunk.

That's going to look great when you get it on the rest of the car. course, pearl would've looked awesome as well.

I really love how the mini tubs turned out! You'd have to look close to notice.

More goodies to arrive today, my tinted glass kit for the X. Been waiting since April for it. Glad i didn't wait till I needed it to order! From Year One.

Well another case of poor shipping strikes again. The right rear quarter window had a 3" scratch across the trade mark stamp. Why would anyone ship unprotected glass where 2 pieces can make contact with each other on a truck for 1100 miles ??!!! I'm waiting to hear back on what Year one is going to due. Stay tuned.......:angryfire:
