Got to replace my 2nd set in less than a year and tried copper in between those. I took the time to write to Hedman and they are sending me a composite set for free with specific instructions for installation.

That's usually the biggest problem with gasket failure with headers....the gasket surfaces are not smooth and straight or flat. If the flanges use welds for the gasket surfaces, they also must be in good condition. I've seen new ones that were not good enough. I have a set of older TTI's (don't know how the new ones are made) and the welds are the gasket surface and they are wide, even and flat.

I only had one set and could never keep them tight, I blame it on the thin bolt flange. Have you tried Percy gaskets yet? I blew out everything until I went to the Percies which are still there and then copper gaskets on the collectors. Hope they get you straightened out.

Get a set of "remflex" brand gaskets...expensive...but gauranteed not to leak...they work!!!

Are they very old Hedmans ? These were the Hedmans on my old 440 that were bought around 1999 and these never gave me any problems leaking. But they have a thicker flange then the older ones made in the 70's and 80's. These are not as thick as TTI flanges but they are thicker then real old headers which helps keep them from warping and leaking. If your Hedmans have thin flanges they may be warped and may not seal with any gasket if warped to much. Ron

I have had excellent results with the Mr. Gasket Ultra Seals.

I tried their copper ones and they were awful

Didn't think to mention it until now but I had some gasket issues and later found that there was a step in the casting of my 452's that the header flange was sitting on keeping it from sealing. I had to trim a fuzz off the top of the flange to clear it.
