I was sitting at a long stop light yesterday, thinking about what I would do to keep busy during retirement, minding my own business and patiently waiting for the light to turn green, even though there was no on-coming traffic.
An old Nissan full of bearded, young, loud Muslims, shouting Anti-American slogans, with a half-burned American Flag duct-taped on the trunk of their car, and a "Remember 9-11" slogan spray painted on the side, stopped next to me.
Suddenly they yelled, "Allah Akbar! Praise Allah! Death to America" and took off before the light changed. Out of nowhere an 18-wheeler truck came speeding through the intersection and ran directly over their car, crushing it completely and killing everyone in it.
For several minutes I sat in my car thinking to myself, "Man?..that could have been me!"

So today, bright and early, I went out and got a job as a truck driver.

Thx for the idea. I retired not to long ago and have been somewhat aimless.... This could give me renewed purpose - and fulfillment while doing for others..... lol

4 years 4 months 21 days 14 hours 54 minutes 45 seconds but who's counting!

Orrrr you could sit in garage looking at your sad car & say "I'll get to it tomorrow " lol. Or spend time looking in FSM to answer questions on FBBO for others & thinking "I should do that too".

Just retired and if I didn't have the car and a boat I would be going F'n nuts.
Never should have kept the house repairs up to date. Bored to tears but I'll find something

at least look like your doing something ,watch out for the dreaded "honey do " list

I started receiving retired pay last December, but my workload hasn't diminished one bit. I've been semi-retired for 5 years now and I have had the time to tackle my personal To Do list with glee! I built a home theater (man-cave per my wife), rebuilt and painted the shed, built a retaining wall and rebuilt the abutting brick patio, added a pool-house and built a powder room in it (including digging 90' of sewer line for it), built a garage workshop, cleaned/organized the basement, garage, shed and master bedroom closet, replaced the roof on the main house, garage and shed, added a loop in the driveway, planted 50 trees, bought the 1967 Barracuda and rebuilt all critical systems to make it a safe driving car, and about another 25 Honey Do's. My personal To Do list is still there, but you can bet that I am enjoying ever minute accomplishing them. Tomorrow, I am burrowing a 200 foot trench with a Ditch Witch so I can add power and water lines to the other side of my property. Here are some photos:

Shame on you!!!
The wife must NEVER see posts from you!!!
But if she does, do you hire out?
Seriously man, keep at it!! You're staying young!

I can think of lots of things to do when I retire. I'd work on my Dodge and hopefully be able to get maybe an old dodge pickup or a100 or ? Do some volunteering, keep donating blood as often as I can. Go work on cars at my brothers. I'm still several years away, unless I hit that lotto jackpot, lol. Depending on what happens to social security and medicare, I may have to work longer anyways.

I added the poolhouse too, but the Amish built it and set it in place for me, so I didn't take credit for it. Now when we have carbecue and family picnics, everyone can use this instead of going into the main house.

Aahh the Amish, simply awesome craftsmanship. We used them for last roof&shutters; great people!
