s a good decision

Painting the radiator support black is absolutely the right decision - you don't want the paint showing through. I blacked out mine as well as my car is another "bright" color - Limelight.

Looks great! The car is really coming together nice!

thank-you hawk, yes the radiator was obvious when i test fitted the grill and thanks to showard, my support looks straight again. taillight installed ended up replacing the center piece and painting the outside black with no chrome showing on the outside lip because of the pitting and expense to replace them or having them refinished. i also ended up installing an electric vacumn pump on the cheap, took some fabrication but works good. put the canister, pump and vacumn switch so it shuts off for about 150 bucks, mounted it to the bottom on the battery tray, trying not to put holes in the original metal. a lot cheaper than want they want for a set up, thought i had a pic of the motor but i guess not, will have to add that later. also got wiper upgrade with the greasable fittings, another suggested Justin upgrade (thank-you). was easy to do and does help the movement be a lot smoother, and seals everything up very nice. Thanks to Bill Meerholz at BM Cuda for the wiper motor resto, came out great! And that was from a thread somewhere,

RC recommended him as the best, and I have to agree. Thanks RC if your watching!

Wow Don!
First things to catch my eye was the beautiful front and rear picture of your car. There is nothing better looking to me than the 68 Charger grill and tail lights.
You are doing a great job.

Don,

I have to tell you, I am not generally a fan of silver cars. But I'll say it again: WOW, that looks absolutely fantastic!

Mine was blacked out quite a bit - more than factory, including the lower radiator support.

The picture below was taken during my cross country trip (notice all the dead bugs guts on the front end from driving through Kansas!). If you take a picture low down you may see the lower radiator support. Silver might not look bad at all, but I did not want bright green showing on mine. Just for consideration now - not trying to push you either way!

Cheers,

the last pic i posted was prior to the black out, i got my lower support blacked out too(a couple pics prior). what size rims and tires are u running? they look a little big for stock, like the look i'm working on new rims now big decisions to get the right look at big money

Doh! I just assumed the bottom wasn't blacked out and forgot to check out the earlier picture! :screwy:

On my car, both front and rear rims are 8x15 magnum 500 rims with a 4.5" backspace. Front tires are BF Goodrich radials 245/60R15. Rears are 275/60R15. No rub and work great.

Here is another shot of the car from the side so you can judge if you like the look. Can PM you more pictures from different angles if that will help (don't wan't to clutter up your thread...)

Your car is looking absolutely stunning Don, but I have to agree with RC that the tail panel needs a splash of black paint to make it perfect.

that was the plan, but with me cheating on painting the taillight main housing with black,(and no chrome edging) wasn't sure if that would work then, glad u guys noticed it, thanks for your input, that was one of my never go back things if i blacked out the back, the silver looks so good around the charger emblem too, I know this isn't an original panel or matching engine car, but I am keeping most of the car looking that way, minus rims, because of the brakes and a few other upgrade which don't effect the appearance much. so that is one of those things i will have to figure out, I still need to blackout the inside of the doors (kinda doing that *** backwards but wasn't gonna do that either until i started test fitting door pads etc. and noticed the silver popping thru) so I was dragging my feet on the taillight panel until i do that.

thanks been a long time, got 3 1/4 years into it, should be complete before the 4th. i hope:).

well its been a while got most of the wiring done, sleeved the new harness with shrink wrap gives it a little protection and looks good, also sleeved the vacumn lines for the booster and headlight doors. Got instrument cluster back from instrument specialties, fantastic job still need a rocker arm for my three speed wiper switch, figured I'd test it to see if I need the switch too! carpet went in without a hitch, laid done pretty good ended up putting own some sound deadoner/ insulation, floor board looked so good I didn't want to cover it but the advantages seemed too good. and no I still haven't blacked out my tail panel. was gonna try to wrap it with the tail stripe, I was informed that it will contour to the shape with no problem and I can get the stripe and the tail panel cut from the same material so it will match perfect, And if I don't like the blackout it can be removed easily. the insides of the doors I masked off and painted, BIG improvement looks way better black. the American one autowire kit is a little overwhelming when you first open it but doing it one step at a time it went pretty smoothly. no more ballast resistor one wire alternator, grounds for everything heavier wire where its needed and fused hook ups for anything you wanna add. everything is plug and play with exception of your end wires to most everything but then you can customize your lengths and how they route and lay down and yes, buy there crimper if you go that route. picked up some 18" American racing rims and tires from a southern boy in west virginny on my way back from tennesee. thanks Sam! also picked up some 305 nitto drag slicks for my beater
