What do you all think?
It's is going in 67 GTX and it will be a street car (shows and cruising). We are getting closer. All parts are in and ready to proceed.
Might do a pass or two at a track but no plans to race.
I am not against changing cam if needed. It was recommended by the Mopar/Engine shop.

505 Stroker (67 440)
Ported and Machined 915 Heads (Original)
Automatic 727 (rebuilt)

Duration at .050" lift? Might be really nice!
 
That's the lobe lift. Multiply by rocker ratio for lift at the retainer.
What is the static ratio? Which pistons are being used?
 
kinda small for a 500 CI (duration) lift is OK, but i and i wouldnt even consider running iron heads on a 500 either.
 
Need Head FLows (ported, large ex valve? larger intake etc), stroke and rod length, compression ratio
without the duration no one can tell if it would work or not
.050 is for degreeing in the cam, not to spec one
what rockers and did you do B3?
solid, hyd, roller?

Okay additional info:

-.50" for Intake and Exhaust Duration.
-Eagle Forged Crank 4.250 stroke 8 bolt.
-Forged Piston and Ring Set 4.350x4.25"
-Rod Bearing Narrowed H Series 2.200"
-Eagle H Rods 7.100" x .990" x 2.200"
-Compression high 9's.
-Heads were given a "racing" valve job. Installed 8 no lead seats
and 16 bronze valve guides.
Valve Guide .343 x .502 x 2.125
Intake Valve 11/32" Stem, 2.14" Head
1.81" Exh Valve

Yes, yes. Time and again it has been documented that those old iron heads just cannot be made to work on big cubic inch engines.

O.P. You already own the cam and it's in the engine? Run it. If you don't like it, then change it.

IMO, the cam's a little small. It sure doesn't need any advance built into it. I see that a lot on these long stroke engines and it's a total waste IMO. These engines are not soft down low. They don't need it.
 
The best thing you can spend money on in any engine build is the heads! They are the biggest factor on how the engine will perform. Game changer for me watching engine masters on motor trend. They did a test on a 408ci ford small block with this little bitty cam to test if heads could be to big and the results still blows me away! AFR make amazing heads by the way wish they would make some mopar stuff!
 
Keeping the 915 heads on the car was important to me. They were special heads only used on the 440 in 1967 (as we all know). I'm not looking to race this car just a good strong rebuild. Anyone can say they have aluminum heads (many suppliers) but the 915's are rare.....and original to the car. And if done right and matched with some of todays advances on other parts/accessories can give good power. If it puts me back in the seat now and then and lets me do a few burnouts I'll be satisfied.
 
Run the cam and heads you have. If this Mopar/Engine shop has the foggiest notion what they are doing, you'll be fine.
 
I run 915 heads on my motorhome ported but with stock motor home valves and on my sedan with much larger intakes cut down to 30 degrees and the 1.81 exhausts both are 9:1 motors with under .035 quench (D Dished 6 pack pistons)
no use you running a bigger cam on 015
it's the combination
as Iq52 says try it since you already own it
single pattern cam is fine with headers especially with the larger valves- hope they are not large tube headers though
if you then want to post back your compression readings
still looking for the seat duration- got a cam number
