With the Holidays behind us now, that puts Carlisle in July about 6 months away. I know there was talk last year of a Tent for the FBBO Members, but don't know if it ever came about ? It would be a great place to meet up, get out of the Sun for a while, possibly a place for 1 or 2 member's cars to be displayed, and I've seen some groups that put out a decent spread for lunch, or snacks also. Just something to consider, as it will be here before you know it, like everything else flying past us...

....The only way this can be accomplished is if the members themselves figure something out. We had a get together last year at the Nat's and had a decent turnout. A wonderful member here gave us a corner in his tent for this to happen....Thanks Richard!

If you guys are planning on attending and preregistering for the event, make sure that you go to the drop down menu and select the FBBO club affiliation. Based on the number of entrants registered by the specific deadline date determines if Carlisle Events will supply the club with a designated area with a tent. There are certain levels of participation that they use to determine if the Carlisle Events will cover the cost of the tent completely or at a reduced cost. I do not know what the magic numbers are to be considered for the different levels, but if guys are seriously wanting to do something like that and feel that there is enough participation, I will check with the staff to see what is the levels needed.

Does anyone know if the FABO group has a tent in the past couple of years? I know probably 15 or so years ago, they had a meet up at our vending tent on Saturday afternoon and had a very good turnout. Like I said that was years ago and one of their members asked me to use our tent as it is located right next to Building T and is relatively easy to find. My thoughts are if the FABO or FEBO group is already getting a tent, it might be easier to sell the Carlisle Staff on just putting up a larger tent which could support the two or three groups. But then again, you guys may want to do your own thing.

I have no problem with members hosting an event at our vending tent or using it as a meet up point for the sake of convenience if there is not enough support for a tent up on the show field. I know from last year, several of the A12 guys met up at our tent on Saturday morning and several of the 300 Club members were meeting up at our tent on Friday afternoon.

Quite personally, I feel that if all of you guys attending will mark the FBBO club affiliation, then there will be enough participation to maybe justify a small tent. A central location that can be a focal point is nice to have for a variety of reasons. Whichever direction that this moves, then it will take some direction and guidance to make it successful.

I just checked and we are only 186 days away from opening day for the event. I know that 2019 and 2020 will probably be the largest two shows for the Chrysler event based on those two years as being the strongest two years of the 50th Anniversary celebrations.

If I can be of assistance, let me know. Unfortunately, I am pretty much tied down at our spot for the days that we are vending and do not usually get an opportunity to leave the spots. But I know the grounds pretty well and some of the Carlisle staff so I have no problem offering assistance where I can. But as Justin stated, there has to be involvement and you cannot wait until July 1st and expect it to happen.

The pics posted in the #1 Post, are from various past years. I've already registered for 2019, and listed FBBO for Club choice. Teaming up with FABO is definitely an option, as to how many of us would be around at once, or even the same time, to escape the heat, or a passing shower. Just as 69bfan has stated, you can not wait 'til July 1 to think about it. The tent would also be a great place for those of us who buy/sell our used parts through the website, to meet up at for some free delivery.

I can try to contact the Carlisle Event organizers this week, to see what Club requirements are needed to have a tent supplied on the grounds. From there, it will be up to the Members to supply that info on their "pre-registrations" to get to the number needed.
I have sent a request to the Carlisle Events Website, and will relay the info when it arrives, Thanks...

This is an update to the requirements I received from The Carlisle Staff last week. It pretty much lays out what is needed for the tent. I was unable to load the PDFs, but can try again, with some help, as my computer skills are NOT up to par, as with so many of you. Thanks:

Hi Dan,

My name is Ed Buczeskie and I am the Event Manager for the Chrysler Nationals. I have attached a couple of documents (PDFs) for you. The first one is the Club Planning Kit and it should answer all of your questions and more. The second attachment is the actual Club Tent Form that can be filled out electronically. I think it’s also in the first attachment but that file only contains the fixed PDF that you would have to print out and complete manually. You are free to use whichever you prefer but the “fillable” form is much easier and you don’t need to print anything – just open it, fill in the info, save it and email it to me.

To answer your question directly about the tent, pretty much any club (of any size) can apply to get into our Club Program and get a tent. The deal is, if you have fewer than 25 cars registered for the show you must rent your tent for the weekend and that requires payment in the amount of $180. That gets you a 20x20 tent to use for the weekend. It’s meant as a place for your members to gather. These are professionally installed tents – they are not just an EZ-Up style tent.

If you do get at least 25 cars registered for the event this year, you can contact me after the event and I will refund your tent fee and your tent for the 2020 show will be free. As long as you have AT LEAST 25 cars registered each year, you will get your tent for free the following year. If you drop below the 25 car minimum in any year, you would be required to pay for your tent again beginning the following year (in other words, if you’r eligible for a free tent in 2022 but you only have 20 cars that year, you would have to pay for your tent in 2023 but I would NOT send you a bill for the 2022 tent).

Just so you know, FBBO is already an “Official Carlisle Club” so you don’t need to register the club with me – that part is already done. If you want to get a tent for the 2019 show, your next step is to submit the completed Club Tent Form to me with payment. FYI, you had 9 cars registered under FBBO last year so you’re off to a good start. Getting 16 more B-Bodies shouldn’t be too difficult J

Please let me know if you have any questions.

Thanks Dan!!

Ed

How many are already registered under FBBO club affiliated?
Maybe Ed could find out?
I am, so there's 1......

Btw, you don't have to have a B body registered to choose club affiliation.

Dan,
Thanks for undertaking this effort. The opportunity to have a quality tent on the grounds is huge and something that hopefully the members here that plan on attending will support. Getting 25 cars should not be a huge task. If you should know fellow participants who will be attending and are not aligned with this site, ask them to mark their registration to reflect FBBO.

It will be here before we know it, so hopefully you guys can pull it off to add to the Carlisle experience.

I had posted a while back for a show of interest in obtaining a Tent set up, for FBBO Members attending the July Carlisle Event. I have contacted, and received the requirements, from the staff at Carlisle. Would like to get this post out again, with the attached info, so it can go forward as needed, if there is enough interest in it. We all know that the Sun can be brutal there in July, so a tent would be a great place to cool off, meet up, swap parts, etc. Any and all comments, feedback, suggestions are welcome. This would need to be pursued as soon as possible, as July will be here before we know it, so get the ball rolling...

Here is the Info from The Carlisle Staff:

Obviously Not Much interest in a Club Tent, so I'll send a response back to Ed at the Carlisle Show Group, to say don't save one for FBBO. Thanks for the input on this topic...
***Update as of 3/13/19*** This Post has been combined with the previous posting, and interest in the Tent has grown. Please read on for details, and ignore Page 2, as it somehow joined the write up after it was revised...

This is a shame that it cannot be pulled off. Dan, you tried, so that is what is important. Can you find out from Ed how many people have actually registered under the FBBO group? Lets say that 15 have registered under the group. The original cost was $180 for 25 entries, which is $7.20 per entry. So at 15 entries at $7, could we pitch in the difference of $75 to cover the cost of the tent?

Hopefully as we get closer to the date, the number of registrations will increase, but I am sure that Ed and his crew also has a cutoff date as well as they cannot wait to the last day in securing the number of tents needed.

Can we get an estimate on how many people who visit this site has yet to register for the event? A simple post to state the intentions of those attending would be great in possibly making a decision to push on the tent ideal.

I was only going by the pole, so ? Might be that many are walk ins, or not aware. I can ask Ed when I get back to him, but the season will be starting up before we know it. I think their Spring Show is near the end of April, so they will be busy...

Dan,
I am sure that Ed and the Carlisle staff has a cut off date on the registration process for the tent request. I know from my dealings with the various tent companies that provide the tents to the various vendors, it is a first come, first served scenario and that Carlisle promotions only have so many tents available to them for use.

All that we can do is to keep the word of mouth going concerning the event and hopefully as people will be registering for the event, that they will remember to mark the FBBO group. It is less than 130 days away, so hopefully people are making there final plans.

Hopefully things will work out as a "home base" for the weekend would make the event a more memorable experience and likewise offer those attending a place to seek shelter from the sun or rain.

Another suggestion is to announce in club newsletters or meetings that anyone attending the Carlisle event to register under the FBBO banner. Some of these clubs are quite active and can help to push the number over the top.
