Holley Sniper installation - a Guide for beginners

I recommend getting the Holley Sniper EFI fuel tank. It is plug and play (minus regulator and return) for carbureted motors so once you go EFI it is already installed and ready to go. Mine is ran through a relay.

Getting an EFI tank is by far the best way to go. Unfortunately, there wasn't any EFI tanks for 71-74 B-Body when I installed mine.

I just connect Ignition 1 and Ignition 2 together to the pink wire. Then the pink wire gets 12 volts during start and run.

Doing this should work fine. However, I noticed an issue with the ECU resetting when turning the key very slowly. Added the timed relay prevents this possible issue. It was an extra $45 in the $4500 EFI project.

it is best to run a single plan intake with a bolt on throttle body . with that said i think you would cut all of the divider out maybe sell the duel plain and get a single plain

Same problem here....External fuel pump, increased capacity ....92 litres instead of around 60, and a nice clean tank without the filling issues ...

Building a metal shroud to cover the pipe ...eventually. Currently has a wooden box to conceal the hole. :)

I heard that 3/4 inch deep and 1-1/2 inches wide at the divider does the trick. You just need just enough to equalize the pressure seen by the MAP sensor. If you cut too much, the runner will bleed pressure between the planes and you'll lose some of the torque benefits of a dual plane. Cut too little and you have erratic MAP readings. Talk to Holley tech support, they will know best.

For me, I've been planning EFI way back so when I saw a single plane, low raise, spread-bore Holley Street Dominator for a 383 pop on Craigslist, I jumped on it. The old Thermo-Quad didn't care for it, but I didn't care for it either. I loved the sound of the TQ secondaries at WOT, but that was about it. That Thermo-Quad is going on a 383 or 400 build of all the parts we have left over which might end up powering a Dakota for Lemons racing.

I run a Sniper on a Performer RPM. Works fine without touching the intake manifold. I've helped install a bunch of Sniper setups on dual plane intakes and haven't seen any issues. I suspect the whole "EFI doesn't work on a dual plane" is a myth.

what's up with the motor plate. you put extra ears on it and why if you don't mine. andy the engine bay is looking sweet as the rest of the car.

I've seen it in person this week so don't believe it's a myth. Edelbrock EFI on a friends 390FE with a dual plane Edelbrock. Certain plugs fouled, others fine(I forget which), AFR showing good but still unburned fuel in exhaust and an off idle stumble if floored. Installed a half inch spacer and both issues have been resolved.

Triple Black 73- Thanks for the post! I'm seriously looking into/wanting EFI for my 71 RR. Where did you find a tank, or did I miss that part?

The 71-74 B-Body boys are being left out in the dang cold when it comes to EFI tanks. Mainly because we have three different type of tanks for four different year models. The only option right now is to custom make a new tank or retro fit an existing tank.

I highly recommend staring with a mild steel tank and then having a laser cut shelf welded in the left front corner of the tank. See post #11 of this thread:

I found this on Aeromotives site. i emailed them like 1 1/12 months ago and was told "nothing now, nor in the future" for my application but now they do. I need to contact them again or possibly go there since close to me, when I get home from my deployment.

Perhaps some intakes have an issue. Like I said, I haven't seen an issue with the Performer RPM. Holley does now offer a four hole sealing plate which might solve some issues. https://www.holley.com/products/fue...efi/sniper_efi_service_components/parts/520-2
