Following up on my two posts #49 and #66 regarding my orange 1970 914. When I re-painted it red, at the same time I added aftermarket 916 style fiberglass front and rear bumpers. The 916 was a 1972 prototype that never saw production.

Shortly after my 914 was painted red (now appearing as a 916), one lazy night I decided to leave the vehicle in the street instead of pulling it into my one-car garage in El Paso, Texas. I was pretty consistent when it came to parking it inside. Well, the next morning I found a brick sitting in the middle of the windshield (see photo). You can see my wife's green Mazda GLC in the driveway.

From Wiki:
Planned for the 1972 model year, the Porsche 916 program was cancelled after eleven prototypes were built. The car came with aerodynamic front and rear bumpers and either the 2.4 L engine from the 911S, or the 2.7 L from the Carrera. It was also to have a fixed steel roof, wider wheels, double grilled engine lid, and flared fenders as styled from the 914-6 GT cars.[24] Ventilated disc brakes were fitted to all four wheels. The 916 also used a "mid-engined" version of the then-new 915 transmission, giving a conventional shift pattern with one to four in an H and fifth out on a limb. One 916 was built to US specs and on delivery to the US was fitted with air conditioning by the dealer (Brumos) and has been housed at the Automobile Atlanta 914 museum since 1990.

Found an old R Gruppe calendar photo of my 72 911T I restored in its super rare leaf green color. 2.4 MFI that I built with a half point more compression. Ran great. I just wish I had it back so I could sell it again.

Anyone see that ugly pink thing on gear up? Thought CIS injection was archaic.

I own a 1978 Porsche 928. It's a giant money vacuum.

Thought I would look for an old Porsche till I saw the prices. A Karmen Gia might be better. Both VWs

I have to admit that having been a Mopar guy since I was 14, over the last 3 or 4 years I have thought about getting a "foreign" car a number of times. At first I was thinking Triumph Spitfire, then MG and then Fiat 124 but I kept coming back to Porsche. I don't at all care for the old 911's, too much VW like. I do like the 996 and even the Boxster but in the end it comes down to making the decision to buy more Mopar parts or a Porsche... so the Porsche loses...
