In 1980 I purchased an orange 1970 Porsche 914 (first year of production): manual 5-speed (both 4th and 5th were overdrives) with a mid-engine 1.7 liter fuel-injected VW four cylinder that would get 29 MPG freeway. Paid $3,500 and sold it ten years later (circa 1980) for $1,000. Liked it except for the fact it felt like I was sitting on the floor.
worked in 2 Porsche resto shops in the 80s.......... lots of 356 and 911 action.......have a pile of photos somewhere...... my GTX beater was looked down upon
My buddy races in the “Lemons Races” and has an 84 Porsche 944. So he bought 2 turbo engines and rebuilt the better one and we shoved that into the car. There are huge differences between N/A and Turbo cars so we made the larger radiator fit along with the air to air intercooler. I’ll get pics ASAP.
