Anyone own oldish Porsches?

Well, I have owned a slew of them. 2-914's, 2-924 Turbos, 1-924S, 1-944, and 1-911.
I did all of my own work and found them to be very straightforward maintenance wise. They are easier than my BMW's and Saab's. Maybe that is just me though...

(my first post is #49)

I was teaching my teenage stepdaughter how to drive a manual transmission using my 1970 Porsche 914 (VW motor) on a dirt road on a cattle ranch. The drive away from the house was fine. Then we turned around to go back.

I was giving verbal instructions as we drove along. "OK, now push in the clutch"
Response from the kid "It's gone ... it's not there"
Me: "What do you mean it's gone?"
Response from the kid "It's just gone"
Me: "OK, pull over and stop"

Well, for the second time since I had it (vehicle was ten years old at the time of purchase) the clutch cable snapped, and the over-center spring for the clutch sends the clutch pedal to the floor and it stays there!

Thanks Pop's! I've been hip to this for a while..the "Berlin Buick".
Beautiful work on this pup. Intriguing how they laid the radiators flat in floor pan behind seats & don't have pick-up issues...I'd like to know the details.
I'm surprised They didn't install a firewall....must be awfully loud in there......anything other than short hops must be fatiguing. That said, it is a Marvel of imagination & fabrication Lovingly executed!

is that a buick 215 all aluminum motor in that vw?
or one of the Rover variants?
i Like how they did the exhaust/portholes too.

Yes, I have a first year (1978) 928. Which has been fun, and at times a nightmare. It's the one wife I can't divorce.

My advice, find a 911 99-01, lowest price entry level, drive it awhile. If you like that feel look into an early air cooled one. Bought an 06 911 new then sold it five years later only had 4600 miles. Should have got the Tip Tronic trans first. Looking for the right one now.

This past summer I saw a cars n coffee up in Oyster bay.I ended up being the only american muscle car there. Couldn't get one of the to run either from a dig or rolling:rofl:
