275’s all 4. 295’s rear.

Hello All
I've just purchased a RoadRunner See below garage link, and i'm wanting to change the wheels and tires for a better stance.
i just cant make up my mind on 295/50r15 on 10in wheels or 275/60r15 on 8in wheels for the back....

can anyone please persuade me one way or the other?

Fat vs tall...that is the question.
obviously fat looks good, however tall will fill the fenders and lift the back up a bit which i like.

Arghh....once i have this sorted, i then need to pick my wheels. which are either Mag 500's or Black steelies which i think i think i've already made up my mind on...

Cmon, please persuade me :) :)
I would go with the taller tire to me would look best.
I have 275/50 R15 on my 65 satellite custom steel wheels with SS dog dish hubcaps. They look nice about 10" wide but, way to short so I'll go taller next time
8" wheels

If your looking to keep the 60's/70's look, the 275 X 60 X 15 on 8" wheels look the best in my opinion. I had them on my 66 Charger and also on my 69 GTX convertible. I plan on using them on the 68 Charger when I get to that point.

It's a Matter of "taste" some people like Vanilla ice cream some like chocolate. Go look at other cars at show see what looks good to your eye and that's what you buy.

Tall AND fat, all the way as long as the wheel wells fit down over the tire. To me they look best when th body line above the rocker panel is at or just above the centerline of the front and rear wheel. With a 26 to 26.5 inch tall tire on the front and a 28 inch tall tire on the rear, you have the perfect rake.

Best idea yet to may find the perfect look that way.

Thanks, to be honest, this is going to be a street cruiser, not going to take it to the strip...unless just for fun...
i'm more concerned about looks/stance as i don't believe the 295 or 275 is going to make much difference on a Sunny Sunday cruise....

This is a 383 4spd, correct me if i'm wrong but i think this comes with the 3.23 gears....which i think is good for the highway anyhow...

thanks for your input :)
3.23 open was standard, 3.23 sure grip was optional, as was 3.55 and 3.91. Dana 60 gears were 3.54 or 4.10, just not available for a 383. It wouldn't hurt to confirm your rearend gearing, it just might affect your tire choice.

Here is my setup on my 70 Charger.

28x12 MT Sportsman S/R on 15 by 10 wheel vintiques, 5.5 backspace.
26x10 MT S/R on 15 by 7 steelies up front.

On a RR not too sure.....

SWEET! I thought that Roadrunner looked familiar, checked the license plate, and I have the opposite view! I've had this saved for several years as an example of what I'd like the rear tires on my 70 Roadrunner to look like width wise.
I've said this before, out of ALL muscle cars that look better with wide rear tires, B-Body Mopars look the BEST with wide rear tires!

The one I've had:

And these are in the same folder:

And the compulsory:

To me, "filling the wheelwell" means minimal space at the front and rear of the wheelwell opening. As an example, a 12"wide, 24"tall tire might fill all the space between the fender and the spring, but have a couple inches of open space at the front and rear of the opening. To me, that is NOT filling the wheel well ,and just looks silly. Granted ,this is an extreme example, but it gets my point across. Given a choice, i will take height over width .
And the longer the quarter panel and the wider the wheel well opening ,the more important it is to fill them.
